All the information can also be found on the official forum and that's where the seller is most likely getting this information. I have read that there are plans to make an English sub-forum for the people who can't read chinese.
Yeah I found the same info on the official forum, but it's nice to have another place to get updates especially in english, I'll support the seller if they really provide the info and support we need. That would be cool if the official site has an english section. My chinese is 1st grade level only hahaha
As mentioned earlier, maybe we should setup our own TVPad thread to discuss FAQ, how-to's and latest news. Hint: maybe someone who can read Chinese should take the initiative Otherwise I'll decide if I'll undertake that task once I have played (hacked) a bit with the TVPad.

wow!! i really wish someone can hack this android device, maybe rooting it, adding USB input support, or capability to add apps like youtube, pptv, etc etc.
Well someone who is willing to maintain the thread and the main post should start it, not sure if "laofuzhi" is willing to do that I'll be willing to do that, but first I need to build some experience with the TVPad once I receive it (which I hope is tomorrow). Furthermore I was thinking about having a thread with a name like "The TVPad Unoficial English Thread" or "The TVPad Knowledge Center".

Some of you will say "well if I don't hack it, someone else will..." but at least, by contributing to the hacking of tvpad, you will just hasten the final closedown of tvpad...a situation that no one wins...
I'm not going to repeat myself, so please read my response here. Btw, I think uniqlo is talking about hacking the device to add extra features, not to make the streams publically available. Anyway, if it makes you sleep better at night, then I am not planning to share any streams if I manage to find these from the TVPad I'm sure the makers of the TVPad took some countermeasures like the ones from BETV, so it's probably not going to be easy. Relax!
Option A: Use packet sniffing program to detect stream IP origins and then share them publically will ruin TVPad. Option B: (I likey) Hack Android to allow for third party apps (DVR-option for timeshift playback), Youtube, etc... is AWESOME! Phantomman I think was alluding to Option B...
reading the previous post so the eBay seller got Eng. menus and the official hk seller don't have that ??? i need too make a choice : 1 buy the real iptv from tvbs europe 2 buy the TVPAD2 3 wait for the TVPAD 3 ( with dual ARM cores + 2 GB ram )
The official hk seller does have the latest firmware (including Eng. menu's). You will get the latest firmware from them, even faster than the eBay seller. I don't see why you need a faster device. The current device works perfectly fine. You are not going to get better quality streams because of the faster device.
1) Assuming they still sell that, it's expensive, probably uses more bandwidth and as far as I know you cannot use it as a media center. You do get programs in the European timezone though and 5 channels in total. Some of the channels are not on TVPad I believe, like TVB Drama and TVB Junior. 2) No monthly payments, a lot more channels than option 1. No guarantee that it will keep working though. Plus the risk that I will hack it and spoil it for everybody ... just teasing "Normal" here 3) Why do you need a faster TVPad ? Isn't it already capable of playing 1080p ? Maybe the ones who have a TVPad can comment on this if they have tried to play 1080p media files with it.
Just send you a PM about the new TVpad topic. I just tested some different video formats. SD RMVB and 720P RMVB files works fine. However, I can't play video's in MKV format. I don't have 1080p files, so I can't test that out.
I'm not sure if they're lying or not, maybe, they need to do something on the firmware in order to activate 1080p output. I think What I found is based on my Sony TV, when I switch between different HDMI devices, my TV shows whether it's 720p or 1080p on the top left corner. When I connect it with my HP laptop or xbox 360, it showed 1080p, however, when I switch to TVpad, it's showing 720p. That means the device itself is having 720p output now. I do some search about the TCC8901 chipset TVpad is using, it has been widely used by MP4 players in China since 2009, it can display 1080p though.
