It's already a pretty widely known fact that relatively "dirt poor" Chinese farmers have been crossing the Sino-Viet border for years to marry the even more financially desperate Vietnamese girls (who see the rural Chinese men as a comparative step up). So the economics of such an "ad" certainly seems plausible enough, even as it is opprobrious. Predatory sexual practices with regards to power is nothing new; this is evidenced from the classic Rape of the Sabine Women (where military might carried off the booty {yes, pun every bit intended}, LOL...) to today's modern mail order bride phenomenon (as an extension of financial disparity). Ads such as the above are relatively common and even available on line. But not all of these arrangements have happy endings. Spoiler: The following TIME.com story from 2008 attests to this Given the prevailing gender disparity (ie. low female availability) as a social effect of the long standing One Child Policy in the PRC, this phenomenon can only accelerate in the coming years. IMHO, as mainland Chinese men find it increasingly harder to find available women to marry, they will take to importing wives, much like other economically advanced countries had done for years. Here's another link (from a blog) to some of the pitfalls: Top 10 Facts About Mail-Order Brides Spoiler: A better pic of the OP ad picture They look like they're swimsuit contest contestants, no? LOL... Sad industry. Also, mail order brides doesn't necessarily have to be international, as the term itself arose during the westward migration of American settlers in the 1800's. Similar to how customers order things online today; many yesteryear products were sold via photo examples or text descriptions printed in catalogs and, when purchased, sent via the US Postal Service. This became widely known as buying something by Mail Order. So when the US mails were used to arrange matrimonial liaisons, the term "Mail Order Bride" was coined. At that time miners and workers in the population sparse American west, often negotiated marriages via such mail correspondence with women in the high population centers of the eastern states. Women that were economically disadvantaged were easily attracted to the high wage and property potential of these workers, who often had accumulated years of savings from very lucrative jobs. Thus historically, the American west's population was literally jump started by just such a phenomenon.
TBH, they don't look that bad but you don't know what's hiding underneath those clothes lol. Man-gina haha. Do some next "My Sassy girl" stuff on you, you blind date and 'she' goes toilet with you and pulls out 'her' whip to piss.
Unlikely to be any Man-gina's in these. If they could afford surgical sexual reassignment (ie sex change procedure), they don't need to marry for the money. Moreover, the amounts talked about is paltry to the Chinese, especially the Taiwanese, but to a rural Viet farmer family can mean the difference between survival and starving to death. Thailand, which is like, Lady Boy Central, most farmers would sell their kids as prostitutes instead. The commercial "marriage" thing hasn't yet hit there in any huge statistical numbers like it has in Vietnam.
If a dude wants to go to the west, he can get a sex change and marry a sap for a green card. Not always about the dough.
When in doubt a simple transvaginal sono would spot the fraud; an on the spot ultrasound can ensure an extant uterine structure before er, ...the finale purchase.
asking your gf if she can have an std check-up is bad enough, asking her to prove she is a chick is most certainly going to end the relationship :trollface2:
What relationship? You're in Thailand shopping. Bringing the merchandise to an impartial third party for verification isn't wrong, it's insurance against being ripped off (ie. bringing home a he-she without meaning to).
