An update. I connected it to a hdmi tv. Got it working. Some stuttering. So i guess the default setting is on HDMI. Haven't tried setting it to AV yet. Had to figure out the chinese characters. Is there an english menu? The 8gb card i received can't be read in Windows. Windows just want to format it for first use. Is this normal or is is my card defect?
If you got TVpad M121 with firmware 2.70, there is an option to select english or chinese. If you got firmware 2.60 or below, there is no english at all. The 8gb TF card is formated by the device in linux ext format. I wouldn't mess with it and just leave it in the device for buffering.
Mine came already preset to English. Maybe someone can give you the exact steps to navigate the Chinese menu to find out which firmware you have and if needed also how to change your menu to English. I just updated the FAQ. So see the last question in the FAQ on the main page if you really need to access the microSD card.
Firmware 2.62 for M120 and M121 Hey guys, Club TVpad just tested firmware 2.62. When did TVpad release this update? Where can people get it?
I remember I had this same problem with my Asus laptop that has a 1gb Nvidia video card with HDMI and my new Samsung LED HDTV. I try to connect my Asus laptop to the Samsung using a new HDMI cable. It would not work because the video card was not HDCP compliant with the Samsung HDTV. I guess the HDMI cable that I tried to use was also HDCP compliant. So I try to use one of my older HDMI cable (probably made before there was HDCP), and it worked. The Samsung HDTV did not know whether the video coming from my laptop was HDCP compliant or not because the HDMI cable did support HDCP. So whatever video was coming through from my laptop, the Samsung HDTV showed it. I know that all the Sony and Samsung TVs now have HDCP. There is no way around that. All you have to do is buy an HDMI cable that does not have HDCP. With this, you should be able to watch the TVPad on any of the newer HDTVs. The only hard part about this is that probably 90% of all the HDMI cables made today have HDCP incorporated. The HDMI cables that support 3-D and ethernet are most likely HDCP. I hope this helps.
I was missing the HiTV app, so i wanted to check if it was on the microsd card. I found out, i have the m121 firmware 2.6 version. So no english mode. Guess i need to wait for the firmware update from 2.6 -> 2.6.2. -> 3.0. The channels on the Lily apps keeps freezing the screen after 2 a 3 seconds.
Search through the thread, there is a link to download the apps directly from TVpad fan forum. There is an issue with Lily app with some of the channels for the past 4 days. you are not the only one experiencing this. Hopefully they will fix it today during Hong Kong business hours.
Weird, according to this list http://www.tvpadfans.com/thread-11135-1-1.html seems like all the versions got dual language. Btw, I've browse through the tvpadfans forum and it's a bit confusing all the different fw, apps (some apps require a min. fw version to use). There is also a helpgroup for ppl who want to test the new fw releases and to help other customers. I'm missing a clear list with all the apps and fw versions.
am I the only one having issues with Lily app with HD TVB? It's been like this since the weekend. Or is it my TVpad?
Thanks for the reply...i thought I was the only one having the issue. HK is still on some kind of holiday. Maybe that's why no support.
I saw the link too. It said something about several firmware updates to 2.6.2. with english/traditional. and published. I can't find any download links of the firmware 2.6.2 on the site. Can anyone translate the chinese text about app 2012-04-04 00:00:00 i get when i start HiTV and another app?
Mandarin TV channels are getting easier/faster access time compare to cantonese channels, and they are good to watch. But, most or none of my cantonese channels arent watchable on Lily App, anyone?
It says something like this...upgrade or maintenance in progress. So within the next few hours, the program may be unstable. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Apparently the Lily TV channels were stable 2 days ago according to my wife, but not yesterday again. I just tested one of the channels here at work from my PC and it's still unstable. I will check later at home. I think the problem is that the Lily TV server is located in China. I have my doubts whether they will ever have the bandwidth to cope with so many users around the world.
Thanks for the reply. I was worried because I saw the date and thought I have to take some action or so.
yes I am having problem with Lily TV app for watching HK channels too, so I am using other apps for that atm.
btw the installation guide for new apps could be updated with usb option. it is possible to downliad the .pkg files and copy it to a use stick in your pc and then plug the usb stick onto TVPAD and install from there. for those doesn't have a microSD reader like me. at least with TVPAD M121 is possible to use USB for installing new apps.
Yes, I have both M120 and M121 and use my own USB drive to add apps. Just make sure you format the USB drive as FAT32. I tried NTFS but doesn't work as well.
