well at least he's learning.... i guess he can't get another ipad for the failing kidney then wrong kidney to sell sigh
Kidney => iPad.. able to cover the cost iPad => Kidney.. not able to cover the cost Literally put his life on the line when he sold his kidney for an ipad..
He's 17 yrs old? What is he thinking? He basically trade in his life for an ipad. I hope the Apple company heard about this and help the kid out...if there is still time and an extra kidney to do so.
Well, I remember shaking my head in disbelief when I first learned the news of someone being dumb enough to do such a thing. At that time, I also stated that people never realize that a second kidney isn't really a "spare" part but contributes to the overall total kidney function that a body has. By losing one kidney (for whatever reason) one immediately loses 50% of their renal function. In this case, it was enough to tip this kid over into renal insufficiency. How long he can last before requiring full blown dialysis is really hard to say. But in the US once someone does go on hemodialysis, he or she will have roughly 5 to 7 years of very restricted life remaining. In this case with the ipad kidney trader, this kid is already penniless meaning he will likely get very little (if any) care. Thus, once he does go into full blown renal failure, without treatment (which is frighteningly expensive) he has maybe a few weeks at best. Stupid waste of a life in pursuit of a product.
Hmm, the new ipass is out. Maybe he can trade one of his eyes for it. After that, he will only need one kidney to support his one eye and his already half brain.
Yup I still remember that post you made. Was this the same kid that sold his kidney or is this kid a different kid (because from what I recall, the mother realised from his colour change and saw the scar on his kidney region)
Well, here's the original 04 JUN 2011 thread (by mr_evolution): Link Which quoted from this original source: And here's the article which prompted this new thread: Though the surnames are Wang vs Zheng, either or both could have been variations in the English translation or even pseudonyms to protect the identity of the minor. However, IMHO, I think it's the same victim as both were listed as being aged 17 when the event occurred, and more importantly, the second story provides a link to the first. Thus, it would appear that they're one and the same. In the first news article, it was stated that police had nothing to go on insofar as investigative leads. However, in this latest development, it seems the police did somehow get several suspects charged. Either way, to think that even doctors and hospital medical staff, normally motivated by preservation of life and well being, were intimately implicated in such a heartless mercenary venture sends an especially chilling message about the overall psyche and present Chinese mind set. IMHO, this is absolutely frightening, not just as a moral barometer, but as an indication of how low Chinese in the PRC will willingly go.
could you point to the exact word i need to spell check? It's seriously sad that this happened and why a good amount of kids these days are fucking dumb.
You know, the flip side of this sordid event is, the recipient (who supposedly paid tons of money to get this organ in the first place), is now the proud new owner of a kidney from a young man who, with only one functioning, is beginning to show signs of renal insufficiency. In other words, the one kidney alone from this young man probably isn't good enough to keep anyone alive for long. Hence, though the recipient is probably clinically improved, he or she is likely looking again for another new replacement kidney as the organ they got implanted isn't all that effective. Justice? No. But perhaps the knowledge of which would serve as a pyrrhic victory for the young man against the original source of his tragic misfortune.
