    Hey guys!

So I'm looking at a 2003 Nissan Altima to be my 1st car.
The seller (a softball coach at my school) says it's in pristine condition, a "cream-puff" and it only has 27,000 miles on it!

He's selling it for his parents who are too old to drive it anymore.
He doesn't seem firm on a price and he's asking for offers.
The Kelly Blue Book Value he listed is $9675-10275.

What do you think a reasonable offer is for this car if it's in its supposed condition?

My dad seems to think that it's only worth like 3-4k if it's a "small car" (4cyl) and 7 years old, but I've been looking at appraisals online and they are all at least 8500k

    Any tips, advice, opinions?

  2. an altima is not a small car, it's a midsize car. midsize cars around 7 years old can go for 8.5k +.

since the car belonged to an elderly couple, elder couples tend to drive more cautiously, hence the car should be in a better than average condition. 27k miles is actually not much at all. that means they drove for less than 4k miles a year.

take into consideration the options that are included in the car, you know, things like seats, heated seats, cruise, etc etc. if there are luxury options included, i'd jump on it.

i mean, this is probably like a practically new car, being only driven on average of 4k miles a year.

i'd strongly suggest considering this car, just make sure you know what strings are attached to it.

I would say around $6k-7k max, seeing that prices on those Altima are around $4,000-$5,000 with around 50k-100k mileage on it.

Hey guys, Thanks for the reply.
I went out to see the car yesterday and my dad had a test drive and didn't think it was in advertised condition. There was a scrape on one side that they didn't mention before I got there. The engine looked rusty (apparently the old couple hasn't touched it for like 2 years), brakes weren't quick to response (at least not to my dad's standards) and apparently, the transmission was unstable. It did have all of the luxury add-ons, but I'd rather have a safe car before a fancy car. We offered 5500 for it and the owner said no, so we upped and left lol.
