Obsession with first rounders: i fail to understand the logic in the obsession that first rounders will save a team. "oohhh nooo we don't have first rounders we're going to be a shitty team again" like fuck, this is fucking stupid.. like.. seriously? again with the first rounder thing...... the whole purpose of the kaberle trade was to scout for a proven top 6 winger to beef up our offensive talent, for this coming season. how is a future draft pick going to to help boost our offense in the 2010-2011 season?
rebuilding should be tank take your picks and keep your picks.. its not hard!! i don't like the win now thing burke tryna do.
if it's not hard, we would be in the playoffs right now. the man fully said it him self... he wants the rebuild to take 2-3 years, not 5 years.. anyways, his technique is proven. look at the ducks, they won the cup with him at the helm doing the same thing. also, speaking of tanking and building for the future, look and study our depth chart for our players. our players are all under 25, except for a handful, and they are not even in their prime. if you want to talk about tanking and shit, we're not tanking and amassing draft picks, we're tanking until our current players reach their prime. we have 50 contracts. how the hell are we going to sign more with more first round picks? burke has been travelling all over europe to find young quality players, without resorting to waiting for draft picks. instead of tanking 3 years for 3 first rounders, burke has amassed a handful of excellent young players in one year. what more do you want? again... what's the point in amassing first rounders, if they aren't even proven in the NHL? what if your first rounders crap out and can't compete? you would have wasted 3 years amassing your first round picks, and going to spend another 3 years for more first round picks. having said that, i am even more satisfied with the path burke is taking. let the man with the stanley cup ring do his magic.
although I must say, if there's one thing im disappointed in burke, is the exaggerated press that Kaberle's been getting.... there wasn't any need in posting "For Sale" stickers all over Kaberle's face, and end up not trading the man... I'd feel like shit if I was Kaberle... Man wants to play in Toronto, don't step all over him.......
Chicago... so many players lost >.> They still got their firepower so hopefully they'll still be decent this coming season.
