In the last few weeks, the revamped 2012 Miss Hong Kong Pageant underwent several elimination rounds. On July 8th, the 16 candidates traveled to Chimelong, Guangdong for a talent competition. The ladies were first separated into four groups and introduced to Guangdong’s scenery, history, and food through their scripted plays. The winning group’s members then competed with each other for the “Tourism Ambassador Award” by performing their own talents. Twenty-five-year-old Roxanne Tong (湯洛雯) was the winner of the night, who impressed the judges with her sweet performance of Sandy Lam’s (林憶蓮) song, At Least There’s Still You <至少還有你>.

Roxanne Tong Insists Award Was Not Rigged

However, Roxanne’s victory was met with much criticism. Many viewers claimed that Roxanne, who sang off-key and forgot some of the lyrics, was actually one of the worst performers of the group. Roxanne said that she originally planned for a piano performance, but she dropped that idea because the piano was inconvenient to bring along. She admitted that her nervousness caused her to forget some of the lyrics.

Yesterday, the 16 candidates went to an eye wear shop, Puyi Optical, to select their favorite sunglasses. Roxanne chose neon-rimmed glasses, and joked that she looked like a “neon Arale,” a character from the anime series, Dr. Slump. She added that she liked to wear thick-framed glasses to hide her panda eyes.

When asked if Roxanne was disappointed with claims that her “Tourism Ambassador Award” was rigged, she clarified that the winner was determined by the amount of votes casted online. Asking if she was disappointed, Roxanne said, “I will just be myself, and face the competition with a calm mindset.”

Later today, the candidates will attend a resurrection battle, to bring back contestants eliminated in previous rounds, allowing them a final chance to win the beauty pageant crown. Twenty-three-year-old Gloria Chan (陳華鑫) and twenty-six-year-old Kayley Chung (鍾麗), who were eliminated at the Miss Hong Kong in London <香港小姐競選選戰英倫> round, will also return to compete. When asked if they felt that the company was philandering with the contestants, Kayley said, “I think they’re giving me another chance. Gloria said, “This is the competition’s model. I will do my best!”

Scandalous Photos of Cynthia Tsang Leaked Online

Earlier, scandalous photos of 26-year-old Cynthia Tsang (曾明俐) were widely circulated online. Magazines published photos of Cynthia cosplaying as a cop, French maid, and other costumes with heavy sadomasochistic themes. Tabloids also claimed that Cynthia enjoyed going out at night, partying in clubs, drinking, and smoking. Intimate photos of her with boyfriend Lam Lee were also exposed. Insiders revealed that before joining the Miss Hong Kong Pageant, Cynthia loved to party.

Cynthia explained that the photos were taken 6 to 7 years ago, and said she did not know who leaked the photos. “Those photos were for Halloween parties!” She also clarified that she does not smoke or drink, and explained that the alcohol bottle she held in one of the pictures were for posing purposes. Cynthia originally denied Lam Lee to be her boyfriend, but ultimately admitted their relationship. Asking if she had anymore “erotic” photos with her boyfriend, she immediately responded, “No.”

Cynthia also said that she was not afraid that this incident would tamper her chances of winning the pageant. Her roommate, Roxanne, also gave Cynthia encouraging words of support.
