petitions are bullshit. this won't solve anything, but it might make you feel better, giving the illusion that writing your name in an email is solving the world's problems. Even if say an email with ten thousand names petitioning for the stop of baby raping in south africa reached a ranking government official, what do you think he'd do about it? I really see no solution to the mentality that raping virgins cures aids at this point... its been going on for like a decade and obviously nothing will change people's minds.

I'll be completely honest, I dunno if the petition itself will help or not and Fear brings up a good point that often times these petitions are BS and won't change a thing on it's own... However, the effect that these petitions also have is letting the word out, letting the world know that these things are happening and needs to be stopped... I remember just a couple years back, the whole female circumcision thing in Africa was brought out and petitions like these were floating around then as well... Egypt banned it out right... probably not because of these petitions, but because enough people and the "right" people found out... So yeah, these petitions may not work, then again it may... but spreading the word is half the fight... this petition isn't asking a lot, just a simple one line reply with your name and location... only if you're willing, am I asking for people to spread the word through email...
This is sick but it happen A LOT, paedophilia is especially rampant among the rich and powerful. BUT these petitions are just chain mail stuff that gets sent to you each week. just seems like a chain mail that is trying to make use of a serious problem, the worst thing is im pretty sure the story is made up, no source at all, sure this stuff happens, but exploiting it for a chain mail is sick too.

Thats how scam works, they tackel on your sympathy, usually when there's a huge disasters scammers love to use that incident to fake a doorknock appeal and steal your donations
