Has anyone heard of any serious consideration to mining our old landfill sites? Think of it: A source for natural gas (methane), fibre (old paper) and metals both precious (electronics) and industrial (old washers and refrigerators). Given the cost of oil and the growing distances we have to go to open new sources of raw materials, it makes one wonder why there isn't more hew and cry for utilizing what might actually be under a lot of people's feet. Not to mention the chance to reclaim the land.
