Aaron Kwok owed millions in concert fees by organiser An estimated 8 million Taiwan dollars (S$346,000) in performance fees is being owed to Hong Kong star Aaron Kwok for his Guangzhou concert in January. Concert organiser Luo Jiahui, who was also an acquaintance of Kwok's, is alleged to have absconded with the money and is nowhere to be found. According to reports, Luo, who previously managed Taiwanese actress Shu Qi and Hong Kong singer Daniel Chan, got China mall boss Liu Guojie to invest 20 million Taiwan dollars (S$864,000) in the show. Staff salaries, together with light and sound facilities, amounted to approximately 10 million Taiwan dollars (S$432,000) while the remaining amount was meant for Kwok’s performance fees. At least 10,000 tickets would have to be sold at 2,000 Taiwan dollars (S$86) to break even. Hong Kong media reported that only 70 per cent of the tickets were sold, with ticket earnings amounting to 14 million Taiwan dollars (S$605,000). However Luo had declared to Liu that earnings only amounted to around 5 million Taiwan dollars (S$216,000), resulting in a discrepancy of at least 9 million Taiwan dollars (S$389,000). Liu and his staff, together with Kwok’s record label, “Music Nation” have tried contacting Luo, who went into hiding and refused to take any calls. In June, Liu approached Shanghai’s Bellson Entertainment Company where Luo was eventually found, to negotiate the repayments. Since then, there has been no response from Luo who has apparently gone missing since. Meanwhile, “Music Nation” and Liu have taken Luo to task and an attorney letter has been sent to her. Expressing a statement via his assistant, Liu said, “We have gone through legal procedures to sue Luo and hope that she quickly comes out to clear up matters.” Credits: CNA/nc
