The Acer Aspire has been officially launched. I think we need to go straight to a photo first…

And then there’s the second good bit of news - the price. $379.

The specifications look reasonable and include

    *
    Intel Atom @ 1.6Ghz
    *
    8.9" LED-backlit 1024×600 screen,
    *
    512MB of RAM
    *
    Linupus Lite OS
    *
    8GB of SSD.
    *
    SD card reader (5-types)
    *
Four colours: four colors - sapphire blue, seashell white, golden brown and coral pink
    *
    248mmx170mmx29mm
    *
    3hrs (3-cell) and 6hrs (6-cell) battery options.
    *
Options: 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD. Windows XP

3G and WiMax options to be available later in the year.

Whoa, for that price the specs are pretty good.

I would stay away from any Acer. I've had an Acer lappie for two years. Gets really hot. Cheap build quality. Turn-around for repairs is fast, but it came back a mess (has sound card replaces and there was melted plastic on it. Still worked). You really do get what you paid for. I don't have high hopes for this, even though it does look neat.

ye i've heard that too about acer. so despite it being all nice and stuff i don't think i would get it cos it might break down rele easily and then u end up with even more hassle.

ACER is not a good brand. You get what you pay for. CRAP.
And to back up my statement, I've owned an acer desktop before and it's nothing but crap. Other PC's of the same specs will perform noticeably better for some reason.

Also, notice that at futurshop and bestbuy, all of the cheapest computers they sell are acer ones. I also find it strange how you can get an Intel Quad Core for around $999 when HP sells the same specs for at least $1299

the reason why comps with the same specs perform differently is due to a variety of reasons, though usually they should perform about the same. one of the reasons as u sed is down to the quality of the hardware. another i think is prob the architecture and what other hardware it is combined with.
