Very strange question (not sure if this is the right section), but I have a gay friend who doesn't want to be "found out" so he wants to know how to act manly. Even though I don't believe in acting a certain way just to please people, I understand that he's not ready to come out of the closet. So, my suggestions to him (imma girl btw) is to walk confidently, FLIRT with girls, and act aggressive. That's all I can really think of.

    Any other pointers?

Well, since your friend most probably doesn't want to attract too many women anyway, and it seems as if you are looking for the stereotypical manly traits...

    -be dirty/messy
-talk about sports (football, basketball, soccer ect) or cars 24/7
    -get diesel
    -act macho/tough (pick fights)
    -burp/fart
-watch level of enthusiasm (i.e. avoid saying omg! omg!)
-when walking, do so in a carefree manner (swing entire arms instead of only swaying elbows)
    -avoid tight/silk/colorful clothing
-avoid the gay (for lack of a better word) hand movements
-avoid situations where the guys sit down, look at pictures, and identify which girls are "hot"
-use words like "man", "buddy", "dude", or "bro". I've noticed that straight guys often like to address their peers using these terms. For example, instead of saying "thanks (insert name)" or "thank you very much", change it to "thanks, dude!" or "thanks a lot, buddy!" Or instead of saying "hey Steve, what kinds of things have you been up to?" say "what's up, bro?" or "hey man, how's it going?" Basically, try not to be too formal. The point is that straight guys don't like to be touchy-feely with each other.

So tell your friend I said g'luck.

And no, I'm not a guy.

    LOL @ chic

I always find it hilarious when girls are telling people how a guy is to be a guy, and when guys ask girls how to be a guy.

LOL wow, I'm a 100% straight guy and I don't fit into any of those descriptions you've mentioned (except maybe the last one)! People must think I'm gay -rolleyes :p

www.manlaws.com has all sorts of ways to act like a "real man". I think the entire site is bogus, personally.

check out girls' cleavage, and pretend like you are trying to get away with it. I don't know how many times I've been sighted for seemingly checking out a girls boobs, when all I was doing was trying to read her shirt... -huh I think girls wear shirts with sayings on them so guys will notice their boobs.

I wish more people would abide by these manlaws... especially the urinal one. Why do you have to pee next to me when there's an empty stall two spots over?!!! -nono

having a straight guy act like a gay ... and having a gay guy acting straight = are the same amount of difficulty

hahaha ... just pull off the sterotypes, but try not to be too obvious.

i cant usually tell whether a guy is gay unless it sticks out like crazy. like skin tight clothes, hand gestures, unmanly words. some gay guys stick out like a sore thumb but some of dem u cant really tell whether dey r just sensitive guys or gay guys. just dress "normal" and avoid the hand gestures. guys cant tell if u r gay by one lil motion or what u talk about. some straight guys act real gay.

don't try to be someone you are not...

people will eventually find out at the end, that makes you look even worst.

nothing wrong with being gay, you don't have to announce it to the world, why try to live being a mask?

I agree with zippyw8. Since "God" or by natural selection...or whatever it is made him gay, then be gay.... although some ppl do/don't like gays.

well first of all, don't lie, i tend to have less respect for liars then gays
if u don't want anyone to know then don't talk bout it
