Last summer I bought a PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-FX01 (metallic pink) from Japan. Unfortunately I broke my precious when I backpacked so I'll be needing a new one now. I've tried out a few one but can't find any that's better than FX01 and it feels pretty heavy to put so much money on an exactly same camera (that's not even pink, coz you can't get those in europe). Sooo, what camera do you use? Are you satisfied with it? http://images.google.se/imgres?imgurl=http://img.store.pchome.com.tw/~prod/M00231368_big.jpg%3Fpimg%3Dstatic%26P%3D1162039713&imgrefurl=http://store.pchome.com.tw/d3c/M00231368.htm&h=270&w=270&sz=36&hl=sv&start=78&um=1&tbnid=gNdVYv20bmNFYM:&tbnh=113&tbnw=113&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dlumix%2Bfx01%26start%3D60%26ndsp%3D20%26svnum%3D10%26um%3D1%26hl%3Dsv%26sa%3DN (I'll be needing it pretty soon, cos I'm gonna travel a lot now. So thanks for all ideas)
I wanted to buy a Lumix... they are really solid cameras, but i ended up finding a deal for a Sony DSCW100 and i love it, its a great point and shoot camera. There is one downside to it though, and that is that it doesnt have any Image stabilization software built in, so i end up taking 3-4 pictures of the same thing before im satisfied that my shot is fully in focus, which is kind of a hassle. Unless u find a really good deal on this type of cybershot i would probably still try and find a Lumix again if possible, just for the O.I.S that is built in. I spent a long time researching point and shoot digicams before i bought mine and in almost every test the Lumix series of cameras comes out ontop for its class/pricerange.
^Hmm, you're right. Maybe I should just get a new LUMIX. Coz I've already tried: * Canon Digital IXUS 850 * Sony CyberShot DSC-T100 * Nikon CoolPix S6 and some I don't even remember the names of... However, not even one could compare with mine =(
By the way, has anyone tried Canon EOS 400 or thinking about getting one? Was thinking about a s.c instead. But it's EXPENSIVE with lens =(
The choice between compact or SLR camera, depends on what you want to do with it. Basically, the compact is for fun and the SLR is for really serious photographers. Don't see somebody going hiking with a SLR: too heavy and too expensive.
Yes, I know =) I've been waiting for this EOS 400 for a very long time now and can't decide if I should get a c.c first and then save money for a s.c or forget about the c.c and just go for the s.c. As you said it's heavy, but it's frustrated when you're traveling and can't take some "better" photos of spectacular views =/ Do you have a s.c? (Which one?)
This is an important decision you need to make. Since having a very expensive SLR equipment and backpacking is not a good combo to me. You will be to worried about the cam
Wow, I think I've found myself a new lover. Something between s.c and d.c. The design is awful... but it's the most pro d.c on the market right now =) Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX2 with Triple-“Wide” Features. "Panasonic today introduced the Lumix DMC-LX2, successor to the DMC-LX1, which has received high acclaim worldwide for its unique 16:9 wide CCD, plentiful functions, and smart design. The DMC-LX2 inherits the f/2.8 28mm wide angle LEICA DC lens, 4x optical zoom (equivalent to 28mm to 112mm on a 35mm film camera) and MEGA O.I.S.(Optical Image Stabilizer) system in addition to an enhanced CCD capable of 10.2-megapixels and larger 2.8” 16:9 wide LCD." I think I'm in love =)
From what I have read (and heard from a friend who has one), I too would choose the Lumix, especially the ones with the more powerful zoom. I know Sonys are supposed to be good as well, but I prefer to stay away from devices that take proprietary cards.
^ are you talking about the LUMIX TZ3 with 10x optical zoom? I'm drooling over that one too haha. It's really hard to make a decision =P
i thoguth u're a pooor student lol........spending ur money on stuf then breakign it then spend more money
