On the 29th it was announced that 6 years after their debut, AKB48 would be holding their first ever Dome concerts. The news was announced at the “Everyday, Kachuusha” handshake event at Yokohama Stadium. From July 22nd to 24th, AKB48 will spend three days at the Seibu Dome in Saitama. This is one big step for AKB48, whose dream is to one day perform at the Tokyo Dome.

Despite the heavy rain, 12,000 fans were in attendance to burst into joy with 16 members of AKB48 at the announcement of the Seibu Dome concerts. Oshima Yuko stared in wonder at everyone’s excitement, “I can’t believe AKB is going to hold a concert at a place as spacious as that”.

It was also announced at the venue that AKB48’s latest single “Everyday, Kachuusha”, which includes a ballot for the “3rd AKB48 General Election”, had reached a million sales in just two days. Takahashi Minami expressed her gratitude, “We’ve been able to sell a million copies thanks to all of you. We’ll continue working really hard in the future”.

AKB48 is also holding their nationwide tour in August. Their performance on August 12th will be in Sendai, where the Great Tohoku Earthquake caused a lot of devastation.
