pretty awesome setup... i guess you need to be at the cutting edge of tech to fight global warming lol
^exactly -lol how irresponcible for someone fighting climate change to run 3 widescreen LCDs and a large TV at the same time (and hes not even watching it)... its all Al Gores fault this earths heating up
Maybe he can multitask and the picture was taken at a moment he wasn't watching the tv. Still, you can always easily critisize him: why does he has that much paper on his desk? How many trees have died for that? Or if he use digitalised information only you can attack him for using computers and big screens. But then, he does an attempt to make the rest fo the world aware of the climate change though, not the easiest thing to do methinks.
But his deeds are not showing him as the die hard activist. If you seen his electricity and gas bill, you will ask yourself. Why should I preserve energy, if he uses energy of 10+ average American???
Well, comparing a famous politician to an average American is just not appropriate... Plus, I admire his effort in climate change, it is no small task he takes on as a politician there... However, I maintain that "An inconvenient truth" is a dumb'd down version of a propaganda. It's like arguing "a surgeon literally has blood on his hands because patients had died so we should stop him from going into the operation room", but how about the lives the said surgeon saved? Those doesn't count??? Yes, Al Gore probably consumes more energy than an "average American", but it is just one indicator of his "contribution" to climate change. Being carbon neutral doesn't reduce the energy one uses, but it sure as hell allivate the problem, however little help it does.
IMAO it will be more convincing if the person who is fighting climate change with measures start with himself. [Change the world, start with yourself]
Well, he IS carbon neutral, stay local and organic (in terms of food) so I don't get aggrevated over it. Of course, it would have been great if he does have a smaller hydro/electricity bill than an average American. But the concept of average is overrated as there are the well-off and there are the not enough to get through the day (means little to no hydro bill to speak of)
... how do you know he is Carbon Neutral? Using electricity doesn't mean Carbon Neutral since burning fossile fuel still produce lots of Carbon emmissions. Nuclear Energy is even worse. The radiation will poison the next generations and will destroy DNA
Oh, I read his book and saw the film, of course, skeptics can still say it could have been a faked claim... But at least he CLAIMED to be carbon neutral by planting trees and some such (forgot details) And the energy argument is a lose-lose situation, because every single option has their dire consequences... but at the moment, nuclear energy is the relatively cleaner option, if they can find a way to store the nuclear byproducts that is... :( Solar power and wind power just uses up a lot of space and extremely inefficient at the moment, until the technology improves, they are not much help...
maybe his house runs on solar power...or recycled garbage...hahah..could be that powers all those monitors...
mmm... solar panels will have to triple in efficiency before they can reasonably replace oil and gas. but i think its just a matter of time until some scientist develops a new molecule that can harness more of the sun's energy. We still got 50 more years or so of fossil fuels, so no worries. i think a good solution to the CO2 problem is to plant more trees and build giant kelp farms in the ocean. Also i like the idea of new skyscrapers that produce all their own power through turbines and solar panels.
I like that idea too, and I think solar panel with increased efficiency is fiercely in the works... And yeah, I was told by my environmental toxicology professor that in fact, removing carbon dioxide and sulphate from the environment is not a task as difficult as many "climate change experts" claim it to be, just that nobody really bothered to ask the right chemists... -unsure
