For the last twenty years, Alan Tam ( 譚詠麟) allocated his time between two women: his wife, Sally, and his mistress, Wendy. Last week, Sudden Weekly published photos of Alan and Wendy holding hands, while vacationing together in South Korea. Never before has Alan’s long-term affair with Wendy come to such prominence! It was rumored that Sally was unable to bear children, thus prompting Alan to become involved with Wendy, who gave Alan a son. Photos of Alan’s illegitimate son, Tam Hiu Fung, appeared in tabloids in 2006. In the past, Alan was flamed for failing to publicly acknowledge his own son, an action which the 61-year-old appeared to be reversing recently. In the beginning of March, Alan traveled to South Korea with Wendy and her mother. Local fans immediately recognized Alan, who did not try to hide the fact that he was with his mistress, Wendy. Alan continued holding Wendy’s hand, unafraid of outside judgment that may be placed upon his relationship with her. Although Sally has been aware of Alan’s betrayal for years, Sally retreated further into her Buddhist studies and allegedly turned a “blind eye” over Alan’s commitment to his second family. Various speculations abound as to why Alan remained married to Sally, while his affections appeared to lean towards Wendy. It was rumored that Sally maintained good relations with Alan’s mother, thus shutting out Wendy’s chances of becoming the official “Mrs. Tam.” At the same time, Sally possessed ownership rights in over $500 million (HKD) properties, and perhaps had various financial entanglements with Alan which would be difficult to separate after many years together. Yesterday, Alan appeared at TVB City due to TVB’s recent positive negotiations with the Hong Kong Recording Industry Alliance, which resulted in the appearance of many popular Hong Kong singers at the television studio recently. Asked about his earlier vacation with Wendy and their public display of affection, Alan did not shy away from the pointed questions. He joked and remarked that he still possessed market value; each time he had a new music album release, such tabloid news would surface. Back in time, it's okay .. but that's back then .. nowadays .. I think it's outright disrespectful to the wife. If things aren't working out, then Alan should file for a divorce. There's no reason to create complication for himself and all those involved .. especially the child ... how is he going to face the public... as an illegitimate child?? SAD.
