if i was to replace my notebook this will definitely be it though, good battery life/price/gaming capability (size of display can be solved by the hdmi out port and i can get a usb cd drive). would be a great sub for xbox if you have a ps3 cause mass effect 2 is not on ps3 lol.
just set up a 23 " monitor and use the vga port to use the monitor as a primary display when playing games..... then take it to go when you aren't going to be playing games. It's a plug and play system. just have a station with a usb hub, a vga cable leading to a monitor, and an ethernet cable and you should have everything necessary to game.... 30 seconds to plug in everything and you are set.
i think everyone got too excited. as the description says... For gaming, photo editing, and HD video encoding enthusiasts, the optional Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor has plenty of power for running demanding applications in the background while working on other tasks. Add on up to 8GB DDR3 1066HMz memory and an optional 500GB 7,200RPM hard drive and your multitasking maniac tendencies will be satisfied. without the add-ons or upgrades, i don't think it will run those games smoothly...the basic mode is < $799 USD just checked, upgrade to the SU7300 & 4GB of ram is $949 US, with the upgrade to 8GB RAM & 500GB 7200rpm makes the system at $1,399
This laptop is optimal at 1366x768 resolution, play that on a 23" at 1920 x 1080 resolution and i reckon it wont look so sweet cus it will really start to strain under the pressure or it will just be blocky only if it has uno
well the 949 option is enough to run games. so still <1000. definitely the base config isnt a gaming system. well it outputs at 720p still so the hdmi out port wont be blocky as my ps3 outputs 1280X720p and shit aint blocky on a 22 inch lol. so as long as you play it on a 720p res its the same.
i just got spam from alienware, this laptop with ram upgrade comes to approximately £850/$1330, pretty cheap for rip-off britian. but you need a mouse to play an fps dont you? so even if its portable your gona need a desk and space for your arms to flail in case you rage.
if you know you are going to game, you must know there has to be a space ahead of time for you to set up..... if you are uncertain, a person would most likely just wait till they get home to set up shop. It's like saying, even though its ultra portable i can't get a killing spree going on a crowded train, standing with a shody 3G pci card.
