You can get by with very little money in other places in China but Shanghai .. I don't think so .. it's quite pricy. Beijing too .. Regardless, I think it's better to be in a place where you're happy and working than some where you're depressed, right? But It's gutsy move to China without much language skill and all .. after all, it's so corrupted over there even "some" Chinese themselves are afraid to go back and work.
