have your parents ever told you or other ppl...if you dont eat all your rice, the person you'll marry will have holes in their face.....and then once you marry then you dont have to eat every last speck of rice in your bowl.... or when you cough, someone is saying a bad thing about you, and when you sneeze someone is thinking about you.....
lol heard the rics before...but about the sneezing, my version is sneeze once, someone saying bad thing about you, sneeze twice, somebody misses, sneeze thrice, you are sick these are all chinese superstitions....especially during festive season like chinese new year...there are many more...like we are not allowed to sweep the floor duiring CNY, do not mention words like 'four' because it represents death in cantonese and so on...
I heard when you sneeze, someone is talking about you. Actually ,, I think I got that from all the anime I watch -smileb AND, my mommy won't let me wash my hair on SO MANY occasions! Not just CNY!
my mom flipped when she came and visited me once and my bed end was facing the mirror. i mean flipped. when off the rocker, crazy. she then proceeded to push the bed by herself. funny watching a tiny little asian lady tackle a queen bed. my mom also yells at me when i toss fruits in the air. won't let me go out on chinese halloween night. when i say something like, "i can't wait" for something to happen, she'll slap me. not hard, just like a smack. there are so many more. my mom is the queen of superstition.
no hair cuts on new years eve, cut hair before that day or something and no sweeping or cleaning on that day either lol
Dont hum songs while eating or got a much older person for lifetime partner. I guess it is all about scaring you to behave.
^i've heard the one about eating all the rice and all the new years ones yeh i think some of em are just to scare you to behave when your young and the new years ones are superstition
I also hear the ones about the rice when i was little...and I started to eat every grain of rice xD Now I've got a habit of eating every bit of food lol
I got a few. Don't have your bed end facing the door or a ghost will come and get you. Don't shake your feet or you will shake all your money away
haha yea my dad never lets me or my sisters wash our hair and i thought no one else does dat and da mirror and sweepin thing too. my dad also says we can't leave da table on cny until everyones done and can't drop chopsticks on da floor and ur bed can't be facing da door and dun give watches or clocks as presents cuz it means dere time is up or sumthin like dat. lol my family is VERY superstitious
new years, chiense new years......wash hair (which i do not follow), or buy new shoes...wearing new shoes is fine...... ummm zero_c that explains why the fung shiu guy said i must change my bed position.....not ghosts but something car accident related would happen to me lol......i thought mirror and doors in front the bed is a western superstition....
i have heard of all that before and i truly don't believe in them, but i just follow the traditions to make my parents and grand parents happy.
same as all of you my mom always told me that if i didnt eat every grain of rice, the person i marry will have pimples or something and sooo many times, im not allowed to cut/wash my hair, not just on chinese new year, but on some random days too i dunno - problem is my hair is really oily haha im not sure if anyone else has heard this but, i got yelled at for sticking my chopsticks into a bowl of rice
lets see what i got.... don't whistle at nite cause then you'll be calling ghost. don't shake your leg cause you shake all your money away. when you sneeze, someone is talking shit. i forgot which one this one is. right eye twitch means good luck, left eye twitch means bad luck. (or da other way around) don't sleep straight facing a door or a ghot will come to you.
and i saw in somewhere that we are not allowed to cut our toenails at night as it's attract ghost as well...any proof?
Yeh !! I've heard before about the rice......... they just want them to finish the rice........ I never heard about the cough but sneeze...... yes...............
