Andy Lau on Hollywood Remake of 'Infernal Affairs': Too Much Swearing

Today, the Hollywood remake of ‘Infernal Affairs’, ‘The Departed’, hit cinemas. On Wednesday night, Hong Kong version’s male lead, Andy Lau, attended the premier of the movie. The actor was evidently favouring the Hong Kong version as he expressed that he felt that ‘The Departed’ was too long and it felt as if Hollywood had combined all 3 movies of ‘Infernal Affairs’ together. He then jokingly said that the makers of ‘The Departed’ owns ‘Infernal Affairs’ makers because they payed for the copyright of only one movie. Andy rated ‘The Departed’ 8/10 and said that the Hollywood remake is worth a view.

When questioned if he found the Hollywood remake disappointing, Andy replied, “No, I don’t. It was alright to watch and the actors were pretty good.” He then pointed out that the remake featured some of the golden quotes but did have much more swearing. When asked to rate the movie, Andy said, “I would rate both versions 8 out of 10. I thing I don’t like the most is how they made Kelly Chen and Sammi Cheng’s characters into one. I don’t think that the two male characters would like one female. But the remake is ok to watch.”

It seems interesting, but I think making an original, which is in three parts, into one is kind of stupid.
