Andy Lau Supports New Law to Protect Artists' Privacy

Recently, the papparazzi has taken unauthorized photos of Leon Lai Ming, Gaile Lok, Daniel Wu Yiu Cho, Lisa S. and Justin Lo at home. The published photos had angered the artists and greatly intruded upon their privacy. The Performing Artists Guild is trying to organize a protest to support a law that would make unauthorized photo-taking illegal.

The front-runners in supporting the organized protest include Leon Lai and Andy Lau Tak Wah.

Andy appeared at a sneaker promotion event yesterday and showed full support of the organized effort. "The best way is to take care of the [intrusion of unauthorized photo-taking] through legal means. But the law still has a lot of gray areas. For example if the artist is at home with the windows wide open and unauthorized photos were taken, then it is not illegal. But what if you tried to close the window shutters and your photo still gets taken?"

Earlier, Andy had voiced support that he thinks Karen Mok Man Wai would win this year's Hong Kong Film Awards for Best Actress. This lead to an upset reaction from Sammi Cheng Sau Man's fans. Andy said that he had acted in Karen's movie and Karen has not starred in HK films in awhile, so he wanted to support her. But to calm the fires, Andy said, "I can vote for Sammi now!"
