Ever since Andy Lau’s (劉德華) wife, Carol Chu (朱麗倩), gave birth to a baby girl on May 9th, it took Andy 6 days before he finally announced the birth of his daughter! The birth of Andy’s daughter is one of the most highly anticipated celebrity baby births of the year, sending the media and fans into a frenzy! On May 14th, Andy apologized to his fans, eventually verifying reports that his wife and daughter have left the Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital and returned home. Responding to his fans as his “family,” Andy wrote happily, “Sorry, to have the family hanging. The big brother has just become a big daddy! He has finished the first week of a father’s lesson!” After informing everyone that his wife and daughter were both well, Andy was full of happiness. Feeling an enormous sense of joy and peace over the past few days, Andy cherished the special bonding together with his family. Even though the media and several of his friends left a myriad of congratulatory messages for Andy, he didn't respond. Instead, he decided to quietly enjoy his new role as a father with as little disruption as possible. In his message to his fans, Andy wrote, “I concentrated and tried extremely hard to be a good husband and father. I used my patience to learn the duties of a father. It is tough to be a big brother, husband, and father simultaneously! However, I feel limitless joy and ease of mind!” Though fans were incredibly eager to see photos of Andy’s baby daughter, the 50 year old father pointed out that he will probably not release any photos. The baby’s name is unknown at the moment. This has been anticipated because of Andy’s private nature in general. To the fans' disappointment, they will not be able to see any photos of Andy’s “Little Dragon Girl”! With regards to the public’s curiousity and concern over his daughter’s birth, Andy later wrote on his official website, “We have safely returned home and wished to tell everyone that we are doing well. We were not flooded with fans and papparazzis, thanks to everyone’s patience. We received everyone’s concerned messages and blessings.
