Annie Liu (劉心悠) is very much looking forward to filming TVB’s upcoming grand production, Beyond the Realm of Conscience 2 <深宮計>.

The Tang dynasty drama, a sister production to 2009’s smash hit Beyond the Realm of Conscience <宮心計>, will see the return of producer Mui Siu-ching (梅小青) at the helm. Beyond 2 will star Annie Liu in her first TVB drama, costarring with Steven Ma (馬浚偉), Nancy Wu (胡定欣), and Alice Chan (陳煒).

At a skincare function Annie attended earlier this week, the Scarlet Heart <步步驚心> actress revealed more tidbits about the upcoming project, and shared that it was actually her Natural Born Lover <天生愛情狂> costar, Chilam Cheung (張智霖), who had encouraged her to film for TVB.

Annie said, “When Chilam was filming Triumph in the Skies 2 <衝上雲霄II> a few years ago, he was already encouraging me to film more television dramas. He said actors should try more different things. It’s always been a goal of mine to film [a Hong Kong drama].”

The 35-year-old actress has already met up with producer Mui Siu-ching to talk about the story, and is extremely touched by Mui’s sincerity on the project. Portraying a Tang dynasty princess who is skilled in martial arts, Annie said she really looks forward to her wirework stunts.

Although Beyond 2 will not begin principal photography until next February, Annie has already started training. Aware of TVB’s hectic filming schedules, she will work more on her endurance training. Annie said she is mentally prepared for the challenge. Cherishing the opportunity, she does not mind the lower pay.

Beyond 2 will also be Annie’s first collaboration with Steven Ma and Nancy Wu. Annie said she regards them as her seniors and will not compete for the TV Queen title.

Pointing out that Beyond 2 is a Tang dynasty drama, would she have to wear low-cut dresses like the actresses in Fan Bingbing’s (范冰冰) The Empress of China <武則天>? Annie laughed and said, “Wow! I’ve seen The Empress of China. Their outfits are too sexy. I’m not that daring. I know there’s a limit to television. Shirts that are too low-cut cannot go on broadcast. It’s going to get pixelated!”
