Damn. So what's up with Asians? We seem to be in the news lately for all the wrong reasons.

In a rush? For a quick synopsis, just read the red highlighted lines.

there is a taliban group that claimed to be responsible for this terrible attack but im kinda skeptic to that since i can´t see the connection of a vietnamese would have anything to with a terrorgroup at all.but i`ll keep a eye on this and find out more about this dude.

man, if you can't stand your life, kill yourself, don't kill innocent people that have nothing to do with your issue.

Non-Asians do this just as much, no?

Also, I'm not surprised at the news media for jumping on the chance to do a negative report on an Asian immigrant.

On another note, very sad news. It's hard times out there.

I don't know how much this actually focuses on asians...

If he had been middle eastern or european it would probably have attracted just as much attention.

and of course this news report is negative.. the guy killed 13 people

  7. if you think how much asians there are in the world, and how often asians come in the media.. then youll see that asian arent even that often in the news :p

    True, and...

Of course, but that's not what I meant. I was simply making the observation that Asians, doing bad things, seemed to be relatively more in the news than before. That is, the case of the Chinese post grad student decapitating a girl; the case of the Chinese psycho decapitating and partially eating a fellow passenger on a Canadian bus; the Korean kid strapping on guns and going after classmates in Virginia Tech; the Hmong hunter who killed a group of neighbors in the woods... It seems that every few months now, there's some sort of psycho doing something nasty, and it turns out to be more and more at the hands of someone Asian.

Years ago, when I was a child in New York, I recall that there was an overall sense of Asians not really visibly fitting into or having been accepted into western society. But after years of seeing Asians steadily acclimate into all walks and common professions (mail carrier, policeman, bus driver, politician, news reporter, et cetera), I was gladdened that, for all intents, we were a part of the American mainstream and that all would be open and accessible to us. I guess it would be inevitable that we too, should be occasionally afflicted with a tortured soul that does something regrettably bizarre and heinous. It just seems to me that there have been a lot in recent news... >.<

This certainly wasn't the equal opportunity that I was hoping for.

Supposedly, this guy was angry over a lost job and was lamenting his poor English language skills. But to kill others for that? :whistling:
