Another BAD day

    I just got out of a management meeting and I am ordered to cut 6 of the 23 people from my department effective immediately .. WTF .. I don't even know what or how to do this .. My asst just sent out the dept holiday dinner invitation to everyone yesterday. This is just fucked up.

    this is why i would never want a job where all i do is fire people... decisions like these are never easy to make. best of luck with whatever path you take.

    I was able to terminate 4 before the end of the day and have to contact the other 2 by phone. HR immediately issued the letter and my assistant brought it to the 2 at their home. The com doesn't want to pay another hour for them. Just so fucked up. I have fired people before but not this rush. Well, they were not fired per se, being laid off to be exact . They will get unemployment benefits as well as severance pay. Sigh ..

    how'd the 4 people take it...?...did ya need security to escrot them off...?...

    sigh .. it wasn't all happy jolly today when i got to work .. everyone was quiet and pretty much no chit chat anywhere. before .. ppl would smile or just drop in my office to say hello when they pass by and we'd chat a bit .. just nothing the entire day .. sigh .. this right before the holidays .. i don't know what to say ... but hey .. i am just another "ta gong jai" .. gotta execute the boss's order, right? i feel very bad with the timing and all but that's life.

    This is life. I believe the only thing you can do is to meet them up after they are fired and have a drink.
