Hi I just bought a mac computer and I noticed that many of the asians fonts don't display correctly on mp3 files. I had to use my NJ Star on my pc to convert the werid messed up font then pasted it back on the name. I can't alway use my homepc because I am in college. So the question is: Does anyone know of any Asian font word processors or text converters for OSX. Thanks in advance.
might be able to use something called "unicode rewriter", google it. The jumpled characters come from the fact that microsoft uses a font encoding while mac fonts use unicode coding. This amounts to mac being unable to read the font names. Although this may not correct the filename, it will correct the characters when u import songs into itunes. From there u can paste the songname to replace the filename. Unicode i blieve is compatible with windows as Unicode suggests uni=universal, but someone correct me if i'm wrong. Other than that i know of no other software that can ease the transition. Im' running off a powerbook g4 so i've had my share of headahces with asian text. This "unicode rewriter" is java based too so it should work. Goood luck.
haha victor it took you a year to check back? Anyways, i've grown sick and tired of mac incompatibilities. I'm back to recommending windows.
why don't you use Parallels or Boot camp? that way you can run Vista or XP on the Mac... Boot camp will allow you to dual boot n use either OS... (this program IS created BY apple themselves.... its apple.com/bootcamp ) Parallels is a program where it enables to run windows in a window in Tiger.. so you're running Tiger and Vista or XP at the SAME time.) These are options to getting u to read chinese and writing since you can install NJstar with PC.... thats what I'm doing wiht my macbook pro..
Chinese Word processing on Mac Have you tried DimSum Chinese Tools? I also used NJStar on PC, but also discovered DimSum, and used to use them together, because I also needed something that could do BoPoMoFo and DimSum worked so much easier than NJStar. When I switched back to Mac I continued to use DimSum... and best of all... IT'S FREE!!! AND CAN RUN ON ANY PLATFORM, because its Java based!!! Check out http://www.mandarintools.com/dimsum.html PS. If you go the Parallels route Windows will run in a window on your Mac (eek!) and if you go the BootCamp route you'll have to install windows on a partition on your Mac (also eek!)... I prefer to keep Windows well away from my precious Mac LOL. 马可仕
