As the OT says, Are your parents critical of you? whether it be in appearance or other things? How has this affect you?

My parents are always critical of me, what ever I do from the simplest things to walking to doing chores. Also if there are eye bags they would say I didn't sleep or "last night being a thief" (琴晚做賊哩呀)

    Yeah...my mom makes comments about everything I do...and I get self-conscious. =__=
If she sees some picture of a pretty girl that some other forum member has posted, and it just happens to be in the forum topic that i'm searching through, she will ask "Who is that?" in a very ....critical and nosy? manner. It's like a 17-year old guy like me can't even show slight interest towards a girl. That's the message that she's giving off...~sigh. And plus I wasn't even intentionally looking...it just happened to be on someone's signature. And I always have to explain to her that it was someone else's picture, and then she stops ranting down on me. I never tell her too much about my friends, in case she asks those types of questions. If i do tell her a bit about my friends, GENDER always comes first. The first thing she will ask is "Is it a guy or a girl?" --- I mean -- why does it matter so much? Why?!??

Ahhh...chinese mothers....I won't go into much more detail about what she does. -__-''

not really. They don't say much about me (could be I never listening to what they say:D), only sometimes when I'm buying expensive (mostly electronic) stuff, but my big sis gets some "comments" sometimes.
Maybe the asian guy have it easier then girls?

define "better". Don't they like your style/taste or does your clothes "broke down" after you had wore them few times.

hell yes!! At least, they used to a lot - get your hair cut, practice your writing, stand up straight, don't sleep so much......but you know what, having seen other parents in action I think they're all like that, not just Chinese ones. The friends and colleagues I have that have kids do exactly the same, they're just trying to raise you the best way they know how. As soon as they can see that you can stand on your own two feet, they'll leave you alone - it's called letting go but I don't think Chinese culture really allows for families to do that too easily!!
