In all seriousness i noticed that Asians in America (and particularly some here in Australia) are following the whole hip hop culture with the whole baggy jeans, big inflated air balloned tshirts etc etc. In your opinion right, dont you think they look like tarts when they wanna be black? I mean aint they trying too hard? I myself is a hater of hip hop / rap / rnb music (since i listen to edm and industrial music) and everytime i see an Asian who wears Fubu and those other sort of so called brands i just feel embarassed abit. Whats your comment on asians wanna be gangsters?
Growing up I was into the hip-hop culture, I'm not as into it now as I used to be, I still do graffiti once in a while. But the clothing never appealed to me. I think they look ridiculous, I don't need to see their underwear, and the extra long t-shirts look like nightgowns. They'll grow out of it, and look back and say to themselves "what the hell was I thinking?!"
I see. A question is why do asians (the gangster ones) look up to the black american culture on hip hop? Shouldn't they be proud of their heritage rather rapping and subjetcifying women as sex objects?
You said it yourself that you are a hater of the hip-hop culture. So of course you are a little biased. I don't think it's about 'looking up to black people' it just happens to be a culture that started with African Americans, and is predominantly African American. I like the music, although the standard has dropped noticeably, I'm more of a 90's hip-hop fan that's what I grew up on. And who's to say they aren't proud of their heritage?
I don't think it has anything to do with wanting to be 'black'. It's usually either: 1. they grew up in environments where all their friends dressed and listened to similar music. 2. quite possibly they like that style and actually are into that music. I don't see exactly what's wrong with that since I don't see many around who dress really outragously, but a few do go really overboard on the oversizing of thing. I don't see it as a 'looking up to black' or 'not proud of their own heritage' thing. Thinking that way I think is a bit old fashioned and is kinda like saying we're superior to the 'black culture', how in generalization their music and clothes are bad and is a bit racist. Do all asians have to dress the same way? Let's say you're Chinese and born in North America. If you dress baggy like you say, then they'll say you're black wannabe. If you dress like current HK styles then they'll say you're CBC HK wannabe. You can't win. Bottom line is, people dress the way they want and that's fine. You don't judge a person by the way he looks right? And you said you're a hater! haha
^ in terms of music yeh i guess i do, but when it comes to the whole tolerance thing then i dont care what colour skin they are. In general i just dont like hip hop / rnb etc etc "By looking up" i was saying that there is a trend of which asians go for the hip hop culture cause everywhere i see are azns with homie clothing. Where are the "normal everyday clothes" where people just dress casually rather than follow a certain "fashion sense"? ^^In thought to Duchsauce, if they are proud then isnt their other means to express their pride? Hip hop is a subdivision of the African-American's culture. When i see asians adapting to it, it IMO is like abandoning their asian culture. Again im not saying Asians are better than blacks and vice versa. Isnt there any alts? Not sure if im making my point across... Whats ure opinion Duchsauce?
^^but as for you that like industrial do you see yourself as looking up to whites? because i am sure chinese music dont include edm nor industrial. as an answer to your comment do you know what is the most favorite worn clothes in china? I am pretty sure you seen it on tv and it is suits who were the first to wear suits the caucasians. Its just the way you look at it. Of course the du-rag , shit pants, andre the giants t shirt isnt the greatest style
don't hate playa... Meet me in the trap its goin down Meet me in the mall its goin down Meet me in the club its goin down Any where ya meet me guaranteed to go down
^nice rebut there.. Kachi: Do you wear traditional asian clothes yourself? And your perception of casual wear is most probably of caucasian origins right?.. so.. are you going to start hating yourself? You can hold your own opinions abt this particular culture or style.. but dun try to come up with such flawed reasoning to back them up..
^ nope i dont i am not saying that everyone is suppose to wear those traditional clothing. Oh dont get me wrong i dont hate anyone i am usually the one who says its peoples choice i am in favor of someone wearing a chinese hat japanese tank top african american t shirt caucasian khakis with armani dress shoes i dont mind how anyone dresses or how anyone acts its their own freedom. and i am not reasoning saying oh you should dress like what maybe you got the wrong idea of what i am saying
^ no.. thats not wat I meant either.. or did it appear so? (Edit: the previous post was to Kachi.. not you.. edited it. Sorry for the confusion -blush) I tot you were questioning him on his own practices (the music) with what he advocates. Did I get that wrong? And I was merely expanding on that understanding. He suggested that those who liked the hip hop style, wasn't proud of their own heritage, and that he hated that. And since you mentioned the clothings, tot it was suitable to bring up the point that he himself may be doing what he hates, which is following cultures/ trends that doesn't belong to him. Such as wearing non traditonal clothings. I am not advocating anything. Just pointing out the contradictions in his viewpt.
^ yes yes solly solly big confusion i thought you were just telling me that I am thinking like kachi nothing wrong
lol? i rather not dress like fobs, wearing green pikachu shirts & shit. & just cus you dress like that don't make you 'gangster' , it's also known to be black products , but did you know some em are china made?
Have you listened to rap songs? I mean some of them like 50 cent, the Game, and Nas are basically crap, but the good ones have melodies and rhythm that are off the fisshizzle yo. And yes "gansta" clothings on ANYONE does look ridicualous too me but it's just a matter of lifestyle. Just cause some azn wears them -it doesn't make them posers.
lol why are you using the word aint, not all rap and hip hop songs are dissing women, yeah maybe some asians are wanna be's but some actually like bigger clothes if you wear ralph lauren polos then i guess you're wanna be white
