if you can play it on your computer you can just run the line out on your computer's sound card to the mic in and it should work if you use the voice recorder software built into windows or you can download a number of software to do it as well.

Are you actually capturing? As in recording from a live feed? Or are you ripping? Which refers to extracting audio from an already recorded source, such as a DVD or avi. I suspect you meant ripping, because you wouldn't have troubles separating audio and video cables am I right (given the appropriate hardware)? =P

If it is as simple as an avi, use Virtual Dub/Mod. Open up your movie, and on the File dropdown menu select "Save Wav" and you should be able to figure out the rest. For VCD or DVD, something like the TMPGenc flavors will probably be the easier choice. Find the "Demultiplex" option in the menus to generate separate video and audio files.

    recording it owuldn't give quality

Audacity captures all the streaming on your com....Open Audacity, play your movie, Choose WAVE in your audacity, click the RED record button, and when the clip is over click the STOP button in audacity...now go to file, export as mav or mp3(if mp3, it will tell u that u need some file, jus search on google and download it) and export..now u got ur own created mp3 file:D

Audacity can be dl here; http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
