Do u drive an automatic or manual car? I drive an automatic, but I want to try shift gear. Is it hard??
Manual is fun cuz it's like playin a video game... -lol.. no jk... driving is a serious matter. Really though if your like uncoordinated with slow reaction time, don't bother tryin to learn manual you'll only cause more stereotype that asians can't drive. Manual does have its advantages like less gas consumption and tends to be a bit faster than Auto. But drivin up hills is a drag... unless ya really good..
I currently drive an automatic. I tested out the standard a4, and it sucked. The gear ratios are horrible because they made the 5 speed engine into 6 speed, with no change in hp, so I decided to go with automatic instead. Whether or not I prefer standard depends on the car. On most cars, I prefer standard just because it is a lot more fun. You really learn about where the power lies in your car and how your engine behaves when you drive a standard. On luxury cars, of course, I'd go with automatic. You ain't executive if you're worrying about shifting your luxury sedan. I remember when I learned how to drive stick. It was a nightmare! I was learning off of my friend's civic, which had a racing clutch. That clutch was not forgiving at all, and it was soooo stiff. Now, driving standard is like second nature to me. One tip, if you drive an automatic, always remember to pull your ebrake when you jack up your car, so your freaking car won't roll off the jack!
well, most 2006 cars has the semi-auto transmission system. i know that mazda, nissan, honda, ... most >> expect for toyota, i think .. has this feature. i drive a mazda3 so .> it is an interesting feature to have. i can switch over to a manual transmission .. and breeze through the 5 gears and then pop back into auto trans when i get bored of the manuel or just too lazy -.- but >> having a manuel is definitely better to drift with .. ^.^ for thos that are interested in those type of reckless driving.
shy, you know how to drive stick too?? My guy friends think girls who know how to drive stick are sexy -rollseyes I remember when I first tried it was soooooo hard! I drove 15-20mph lol! Now I'd say I'm pretty average...Not very many girls I know know how to drive stick though.
It takes practice to learn. Takes months to be average, and years to be what I consider proficient. Starting the car from a stop uphill will be difficult for the beginners. Driving in stop and go traffic is annoying. But driving up hill is usually not a problem. I was thinking about giving you a point for knowing how to drive a manual... but then I read what you said and I had to take them all away. I'd give you a negative score, but I'll be nice to still leave you at 0. If you're referring to tiptronic type of transmissions, they are actually just automatic transmissions. It is built like any other automatic transmission. It just looks like they are half autos coz they have a + and a - for the shift lever. Everything about them is just like a regular auto. DSG type transmissions are actually built like a manual transmission, but the shifting process is done by the car's computer, so you can have it on auto and allow it to shift for you. Very few car companies have them on production cars at this point. Mazda, Nissan and Honda, are not one of these manufacturers. And lastly... drifting as reckless driving? -_-2
manual, only cause you feel like you are actually doing something and feel like you are more in control of the car, although i must say when i get into a auto car it feels weird, cause my left foot always goes looking for the clutch
Look at Avant, Mr. Auto Aficionado over here... allow me to retract my statement and say that parking up hill with a manual transmission is more of a hassle.
People are tested in whatever transmission car they decide to drive to the test. I took my exam in manual.
Hahaha your keeping her a scoreboard? lol -lol Anywayz, I vote for automatic. Manual is just too darn complicated. Besides I'm not really into cars so it doesn't really matter to me haha.....but my cousin is a girl and she learned how to drive manual b4 she knew how to drive automatic! crazyy...
So my conclusion after reading all the posts is that manual is more fun but hard, whereas automatic is more easy but boring. lol..I'll give it a try and see how it goes. It doesn't seem that complicated but I'm going to have to see it for myself to judge. B)
glad you were able to come to a conclusion because I don't know what half these pple are talkin about -lol. Automatic doesn't have to be boring if you got like a DVD player n PS2 hooked up to your car... One hand on the steerin wheel, one hand on the controller, leanin while you hit the streets... now that takes more skills.
that is before you get pulled over by some cop, get your license taken away and go on probation lmao...
