The Oscars are shaping up to be a superhero battle for the ages. The Dark Knight, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Hancock and Hellboy II: The Golden Army are among the 15 films making the short list for the Best Visual Effects Oscar unveiled today by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. While comic-book characters typically rule the day when it comes to special effects, the do-gooders will face some stiff competition from another pair of iconic heroes--Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Quantum of Solace also made the semifinal round. Other popcorn flicks in the running include The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Journey to the Center of the Earth, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Cloverfield and The Day the Earth Stood Still. A couple of artier films round out the list: Australia and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Members of the Academy's visual effects panel will screen 15-minute excerpts from each entry. Ultimately, three finalists will make the Oscar ballot, to be announced Jan. 22. The statuettes will be handed out Feb. 22 at the 81st Academy Awards. credit: eonline
the dark knight was definitely one hell of a movie... but so was iron man..... but i think im leaning more to the dark knight....
keep in mind, this is about visual effects, not storyline. if it was storyline, dark knight wins automatically. then again, this is about visual effects, so it's a tough one to call. dark theme, dark visuals: dark knight CGI: ironman and hulk.
Iron Man was good but Dark Knight edges it because of Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne and Heath Ledger as Joker, both did a real good job. Bale as Bruce Wayne was a good portrayal in my opinion and Ledger as the Joker, well the man made it his own ~ gonna be hard to follow but since its based on visuals, gonna be a tough call ~ they were all very good visuals ~ Ironman is impressive though
the hulk would win, unless Tony Stark whipped out his Hulkbuster armour, but even then it would be a tough fight /nerd
No not really. Tony Stark got is ass served on a golden plate that was his Hulk Buster armor. I forgot which issue it was, but check out the World War Hulk issues. Hulk fucking OWNED Tony Stark. ................. on the other hand...... if Tony Stark used his satellites like he did on Hulk at the end of WWH, then Tony Stark > Hulk
hulk was also surprisingly good.. ed norton didn't do a bad job, I was surprised at how a thin scrawny guy could play the hulk
