The BBC and YouTube are believed to be in talks over launching the BBC's iPlayer catch-up TV service internationally. BBC iPlayer allows viewers in the UK to watch popular BBC programmes for up to 7 days after they were first broadcast. According to the Daily Telegraph, the service would be supported by video sharing site YouTube, owned by Google. It would be free, accessed via the internet. However, a BBC spokesperson told the Telegraph that there were significant obstacles to overcome, including international rights clearance. YouTube already has distribution deals with the BBC, including with BBC Worldwide in the US. It is believed to be in talks over making the BBC's archive content available on YouTube in full.
