Although it was just a five day trip, Bernice gained a lot from the experience. TVB series When A Dog Loves A Cat <當狗愛上貓> was broadcast in New Zealand at the time, so Bernice gained a lot of fans. Prior to attending the event, Bernice thought English would be the primary language spoken there. However, Bernice was challenged when she had to interact with fans using Mandarin, which was her weakest language. Most of the fans at the music competition were Taiwanese. Bernice laughed, “My Mandarin skills have always been limited. Fortunately I was able to communicate several short exchanges.” In addition to work, Bernice went shopping in New Zealand. “I bought two cases of red and white wine, as well as ginseng. When I saw Joe Ma buying jars of honey, I wanted to buy them too. But the wine cases almost caused my luggage to go over weight limits, so I did not purchase the honey.”
