Best pinyin software

    hi guys,

    what's the best pinyin software for windows?

    i will be getting a job in shanghai, so will need to brush up on my chinese (and learn the simplified way of writing things)

    man good thing i speak both Cantonese and Mandarin. you can pay me.

    i dont charge much. only $50/hour. -tongue2-lol

    i'm sure there are some good pinyin software/widget out there.

    i saw this really cool simple/elegant google type looking pinyin software for apple, dont know what it's called though.

    what are some good ones for windows?

    I use 2-3 sites to learn some Chinese while rewatching some movies or looking at lyrics for music.

    http://www.kawa.net/works/cantonese/canton.cgi - Translates the unicode text into pronounceable words. One thing to note here is that you have to kind of abandon the way you would pronounce certain vowels when coupled with other consonants.
    So basically:
    A = "Ah"
    E = "Eh"
    I = "Ee"
    O = "Oo"
    U = "Uh"

    http://cantoneseinput.com/ - I use this to type Chinese and stuff. I don't even install any programs anymore. Just type then copy and paste. But if you use it often you might want to install a third party software for it.

    You can actually configure Windows to accept pinyin typing, if that's what you're after. It's all in the control panel and you don't need any extra software (Windows XP and above).

    As for learning, you're better off learning from a book and/or classes.
