Tears of happiness were shed when Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) won the TV Queen crown in December 2011. In her emotional speech, she thanked Bosco Wong (黃宗澤) for his unconditional support throughout the years, also partially acknowledging their long-rumored relationship. However, in a radio interview seven months later, Bosco revealed that he and Myolie had peacefully broken up.

Negative rumors plagued Bosco ever since the shocking breakup was revealed. Claimed for being unfaithful in his relationship with Myolie, Bosco was quickly branded as a party animal and a cheater. If it were not for promoting his upcoming film, I Love Hong Kong 2013 <2013我愛HK 恭喜發財>, Bosco would not have agreed to so do many interviews this month. He expressed that everything that needed to be clarified was already clarified months ago.

“I’ve been in the industry for a long time,” said Bosco, in regards to his negative rumors. “I understood long ago that there are many things that cannot be under my control. After all, the pen is not in my hands. I cannot control what others write about me…. I’ll just treat it as a story! What else can I do? For example, I was earlier rumored to be with Tiffany Tang (唐嫣) and Ada Liu (柳岩)… the only time I ever talked with them was when we were in the film studios or when we were eating together as a large group. I don’t understand how these rumors came to be! But it’s okay! When I was younger, it didn’t matter if my colleagues were male or female, I would get really close and crazy with them. But I will not do that now. No matter how close I am with them, I must learn to be more discreet. I don’t want to drag them into my problems.”

Bosco admitted that he was quite unhappy after negative reports of him were published. “But I got over it pretty quickly,” he said cheerfully. “I can’t stay angry forever! It is just gossip. Most people will forget about it a week later and move on!”

    No Rush

The 2012 TVB Anniversary Awards in December of last year marks Boscolie’s first appearance together after their breakup in July 2012. At the red carpet, Bosco was partnered with Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣), while Myolie walked the carpet with Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎).

Bosco and Myolie did not interact at all throughout the night.
Bosco said, “We still work for the same company and work in the same industry. There are many chances for us to bump into each other. I don’t think we need to avoid each other; we are still friends after the breakup. On her birthday, I sent a text message to her and gave her my blessings.

“Actually, in regards to Myolie and I… well, I really have nothing to talk about anymore. When we broke up, we made a promise to each other that we will not mention it to others. A breakup is a breakup. We don’t want to endlessly talk about it. I hope everyone understands this. However, we are still good friends. As for reconciliation… let nature take its course!”

It is not easy to get over a relationship that lasted for 8 long years. But one cannot progress by clinging on to old notions.

Bosco himself is not in a rush to find a new romance after ending his with Myolie. As one of Hong Kong’s most popular television actors, Bosco does not even have time to think about a new romance!

“Maybe you won’t believe it, but I actually like staying home. If I don’t have to work, I can stay at home for days at a time. I stopped going out at night. If I want to hang out with my friends, I would rather they come to my house. I am not in a rush. My mother is also not in a rush. She was a bit sad about the breakup, but she understands that you cannot force a relationship.”

    I Love Hong Kong 2013

I Love Hong Kong 2013 is Bosco’s fourth time starring in Eric Tsang’s (曾志偉) series of Lunar New Year films. Although 72 Tenants of Prosperity <72家租客> and the I Love Hong Kong film series have defeated Raymond Wong’s (黃百鳴) All’s Well, Ends Well <囍事> Lunar film series in the past three years, Bosco still feels the pressure of starring in a blockbuster film.

“I really want to thank Eric Tsang. Since 72 Tenants of Prosperity, he has been including me in all of his Lunar New Year film projects. I have practically become a regular in the series. I bumped into Eric a few weeks before I Love Hong Kong 2013 began filming, and instead of asking me to film it, he asked me instead what new ideas he should incorporate in the film this time. I am truly very happy for this opportunity.”

Bosco will be portraying a character living in the 1970s, playing the younger version of Alan Tam (譚詠麟). To prepare for his role, Bosco researched a lot old Cantonese films. “I will be paired up with Kate Tsui (徐子珊) in the film. I love to help others. I always place others before myself, but every time I try to help others, I will always come upon unhappy things, but that doesn’t stop me from helping!”

I Love Hong Kong 2013 will be released in Hong Kong on February 7, 2013. The film also stars Nat Chan (陳百祥), Veronica Yip (葉玉卿), Stanley Fung (馮淬帆), and Michael Tse (謝天華).
