nder the lanky build of Bosco Wong hides a little secret; he tells Xin.sg in an interview, his friends call him "Ah Fei" (Fatty)!

"I was fat as a kid, which is why my friends from childhood call me Ah Fei. They just can't correct themselves," he said. It is hard to imagine how fat he was having seen him in person; but there has got to be a reason why he was given the nickname. "I was at my fattest between ages 11 to 15. My waistline was larger than it is now, but I was only one-third my current height."

He grew up to be self-conscious of his own appearance and thus worked to shed the extra pounds and build the abs. "I depended on swimming to lose weight. I joined every single swimming competition there is in school and finally slimmed down," he said. Keeping fit eventually became instinctive for Bosco and is now even the crux to survival in the entertainment industry.

In Hong Kong's TVB mega drama production "The Gem of Life", Bosco's character inherited a large fortune and turned millionaire overnight. In reality, Bosco claims to be someone who does not attach great importance to money. "I can't manage my finances. I give majority of my salary to my mom; and keep the rest for expenditure and investments."

Being raised to the tops by the media, Bosco, though of marriageable age, is currently not thinking of settling down yet. "I will place emphasis on my career and earn money before I settle down." Besides acting, Bosco has also released his debut Cantonese album recently.

"I just released an album in 2008; so I'm not thinking too much about becoming the top actor yet. I will take things within my stride; do well in what I ought to do.

"One of the music videos in my album is about a love story, from the time I got acquainted with a girl to us dating then finally break off and spending Christmas alone. It's a fast-tempo and sorrowful song."

Bosco was in a flow of eloquence when he spoke of his career; but it became awkward for him as he spoke of his romances. When asked which Hong Kong female actress left the deepest impression, he avoided talking about his rumored girlfriend Myolie Wu. "It is very comfortable partnering up Jessica Hester Hsuan. She really knows how to lead her opposing actors into their roles," he said.

But Bosco also seems to know what we are driving at and the answer we would like to hear; on persistent questioning, he finally relents. "For newcomers, it'll be Myolie. She can really act."
