14-month-old boy born without pores in his skin has baffled medics by developing fish scales. Doctors believe Song Sheng, of Jinhu, eastern China, may be suffering from a rare genetic condition that means his body cannot cool itself. Song Sheng - called fish boy by locals - began developing scales within days of his birth caused by his lack of pores. Doctors say because he cannot sweat or lose heat through his skin, it peels away in fish-like scales. Instead, his family controls his body temperature by laying him in baths of ice. Song Dehui, his father, said: "He is in a lot of pain all the time and if we don't have enough ice he gets a fever." But doctors have told the family there is still no known cure for the genetic condition, known as Lamellar ichthyosis. "It can be treated but not cured so we are praying for a miracle or a folk medicine cure," his father said. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...oy-develops-fish-scales-at-14-months-old.html
^ oh the Tree man! I watched hte documentary for that and I don't think they have cured it, they just had operations on him to keep the level of stuff on him down Man he will defo be the next mermaid boy if he had gills
more and more disorders and crap happening :/ maybe it also has to do with evolution IS REAL!!!!!!! xD sorry to the god lovers .. and poor boy .. hate to be like that :(
its weird how this news is available in eng, korean, russian, german, etc, but not in chinese this genetic inheritance thing just as rare as wining the lottery...sigh lets donate what u have i guess, hope he get better as he grows up
Gee .. it's story like this that we should learn to always do genetic testing and prenatal care; making sure everything is ok. Bringing a kid like that into this world is painful for both the parents and the kid; would've been better if the fetus was aborted once the disorder/disease was detected... know what I mean. For this story, they probably don't get access to such quality prenatal care and stuffs. It's sad indeed.
This boy could and may still have a chance to be saved if the world would stop holding back stem-cell researches.
Poor little boy, I wonder how he would survive as he is growing up! He kind of look creepy like that too
Sad, very sad. Celebrities in HK gotta stop going to other countries to donate and start helping their own people before helping others out first. But of course, due to politics and other conspiracy, that aint gonna happen, rite?
