Um I'd say go instore to check the laptop out; see if you like it or not. Then compile price listings from both online and retailers to see the cheapest price. that way you know whether you like it + you get the cheapest price out there.

it's always good to go instores to check out the laptops first before you buy something (even if it's online). this way you get a feel for how it will be like when you actually own it (that is if you buy it).

buying online tends to be cheaper, but make sure to check the math (ie: add up shipping, price, tax, etc). the conversions from buying in currency other than your home country (esp. on a credit card) don't always come out to be the exact current exchange rate, so watch out for that too.

in the end though, it's the same product. just depends on whether you're willing to spend a few weeks waiting, or if you want it right away.

i use HP pavilion. It's pretty slick. I have no particular opinion on other brands, but I've heard that asus is a good brand as well.

Doesn't really matter because you're going to end up with the same laptop. Unless its a trusted site, I reccommend getting it in stores so that you know what you're getting. Sometimes there may be some small things that you don't like about it and you only realize it when it arrives in the mail.

I say go in store and have a 'hands on' feel of the laptop and ask any question you mght have, then you can aways go online and check for a better deal and compare

knocsterrr.....ya link doesnt work by the way...:p....

i prefer to buy them instore...coz that way ya can see/feel it and take it home there and then
but ya need to beware some shops charge more than online websites and and instore some
comps/lappys are sell slightly older models...

so mebe walk in a few shops and see which ones ya like the look/feel of...and then have a
look online....brands like dell have wayyyy more to choose from online than instores i think
    well thas in uk anyways...

    good luckyy~~~~!

i think that u should definately check it instore first to see whether u like it before then comparing it online and buying it online as it is usually cheaper. however, i tend to prefer to buy mine instore even though it is slightly more as i usually want to get it straight away and instore, it's a lot easier to deal with if something goes wrong with the laptop.

I never buy my pc/laptop in store. If I want to buy a new pc/laptop, I would just read reviews from other users. Before buying a laptop, a good place to go is www.notebookreview.com.

wow I've been looking at laptops there are so many..... I got headache from looking at them.... I like Dell inspiron and studio but all the reviews plus my friend say their units fail.... I have a laptop right now acer, but the power plug battery doesn't work... so I want to stay away from acer too. I need a new computer either desktop or laptop that is powerful enough to run some engineering software like matlab and such.... so I prefer laptop more since i might bring it to school...

So far, haven't really impressed with any since there are too many, I look instore too but hey.....costly...lol
