B’z’s new album “C’mon” sold approximately 272,000 copies in its first week, topping the weekly ranking for August 8th and pushing their total lifetime record sales to a staggering 80 million copies!

Since making their debut back in September of 1988, the legendary rock duo has released fifteen singles and nineteen original full albums. With the release of their latest album “C’mon”, B’z has sold approximately 80.046 million copies of their singles and albums, making them the best-selling artist in Oricon history.

For comparison, the second best-selling artist is Mr. Children, who has sold 54.979 million copies since their debut – twenty-five million units behind B’z. Hamasaki Ayumi places third with 49.577 million units sold overall.

“C’mon” also marks their 25th album to reach number one in the weekly ranking – outranking singer-songwriter Matsutouya Yumi in this respect by four whole releases – and distinguishes B’z as the the first artist to release seventy chart-topping works, making them the artist with the most number ones under their belt. The artist in second place for the most number ones is Hamasaki Ayumi, who has had fifty-four of her works reach the top spot on the chart.
Congratulations to B’z on their accomplishment!
