abuse of power? I don't really think so.

the first arrest was odd; but probably appropiate. i presume the kid was doing something against the law or else the officer wouldn't need to use physical force to restrain and hand-cuff him. and plus the other kids should have keep their mouths shut. if this was an unfair abuse of power from the police officer, it will go to court and they could have been used as liable witnesses without a baise motive. but now, they jeoperdize that image with interfering with the officer arrests and continual display of inappropiate conduct.

interesting, but i don't think it is an abuse of power. my two cents. -cool

lol playing the devils advocate there eh... i dont think skateboarding is a crime.. its just rolling around on a board with some wheels... nothing to justify the police officer choking one kid and headlocking another. whats next? macing all those elementary school kids because they are rolling around on those wheel shoes?

hahaha ... not really. i'm just giving the officer the benefit of the doubt.

the two main words used here is "disorderly conduct". was the kid or the officer acting with "disorderly conduct"? since the first kid was arrest on that bases. i can assume that the officer had the rite within his ability (of course, not going overboard and therefore committing "disorderly conduct" himself) to restrain and hand-cuff the kid.

the girl in the vid was just stupid. when an officer ask you to sit. you sit. he isn't our parent where you can agrue and b*tch. he is an enforcement of the law. and if he asks you to sit or stop, you do just that. come'on it's common sense.

i think it is just immaturity. these kids think they are "above" the law and that they can do whatever they want without paying the punishment or answer to an authority.

anyways, this is imo. lol. devil's advocate, eh? would i be more conservative or liberal? lol.

  9. ain't it just amusing when little kids try to take on grown men, usually a sign of parents not disciplining their children.

Yup from what we can see it's certainly abuse of power! I can't imagine that even when these kids are skateboarding on a place -where it's probably forbidden- can be arrested like this. At best they deserve a fine but arresting them is just power abuse. That fat copper has nothing better do; if he had to chase real criminals I bet he can't run fast enough.

  11. guys, not everything was shown in the video..

maybe the kid did something wrong before the videos caught up. we dont know, but if that was the case, the rest was legit.

first kid handcuffed: assuming he did something illegal

    led to

second kid who ran: resisting arrest, interfering with an arrest.

    after,

the girl: not following orders given by a cop (telling her to sit down)

    led to

dude in white tee: tried to save the girl, interfering arrest

    and

camera kid: had to bud in and start talking to the cop. thats interfering with an arrest..

seems to me that its legit, of course, only based on the assumption that the first kid did something illegal, that wasnt shown on video.

yeah I agree with you, the video is just too one sided to actually give the officers the benefit of the doubt. All the prosecutors needs to do is interrogate these people until either of their stories break down. So I don't think it's an abuse of power as well.

yeah, it could very well be the kid is trying to swallow some sort of drug and the officer is doing it to prevent him from so. I assume this is not L.A. cause those cops will really choke you especially if you are black.

with the first kid, maybe he really did do something bad.. but who really knows without the full footage

but the rest who were arrested by getting choke and headlock, that was unwarranted.. they were NOT obstructing justice or whatever you want to call it.. they have freedom of speech and can say whatever they want within the legal realms of the law<like no shouting fire when there is no fire>.. after the first kid, all of those kids' arrests were unfounded.. just coz a cop tell you to sit down does not mean you have to sit down.. they can not detain you unless they are arresting you, which he did that was unfounded.. it is violation of those kids' civil liberties and constitutional rights.. there IS freedom of media, and the kid holding the camera wasn't even talking but was forced to the ground

same thing happen in los angeles few months ago about the PEACEFUL rally/demonstration when many ppl gather about the immigration laws.. this is their constitutional right to have nonviolent demonstration.. but many cops come and force them out of the area.. many ppl from media, like national news station, were pushed to the ground and hit with fists.. many were hit with rubber bullets..

so if you think cops are always right, you are wrong.. ppl forget cops serve the civilians, the civilians don't serve cops

  17. i agree with the fact that excess force is uncalled for.. but the arrest is still legit. just read my previous post.

maybe this should be called: "Unwanted excess force by police.."

  18. Police should only use unnecessary force if necessary :p
