edit: ive kind of decided on a car, but opinions are still welcome! Like the description says, i was wondering if anyone owns or has driven the new civic, lancer and impreza and if i could get some advice on which to get. Some important things to me are looks (i dont really like the lancer's tail lights that much) and features... Im also want a nice sounding audio setup... What ive come to conclude is: i like the looks of the civic the best, and theres tons of support (forums) and cheap aftermarket parts for it. Also, the interior isnt too bad although the acceleration and sound is kinda meh... I havent test driven the lancer or impreza yet, i might tomorrow. On the mitsubishi site, it says the GT version has "650-watt (max) Rockford-Fosgate Punch® premium sound system with 9 speakers including 10-inch dual-voice coil subwoofer, digital signal processor, speed compensated volume and equalization" which sounds pretty impressive.. but i have no idea what it all means xD... the subaru site only lists "ImAM/FM/6CD/MP3/WMA premium audio system". a CD changer isnt that important to me becuase i just use the auxiliary input + ipod aynways The lancer and impreza both have rear disc brakes, while the civic comes with rear drum brakes. tbh, im looking more at the visual aspect of disc brakes rather than increased braking potential=P impreza has the most power out of the 3 (170 hp vs 152 for lancer and 140 for civic) but is also the heaviest (100 kg heavier than lancer, 200 more than civic if i recall correctly) Im kinda leaning towards the impreza.. but THERES NO SUNROOF T~T.. yea i know some ppl think sunroofs are useless but im used to driving a car with one and it feels better when i open it (like vertically)... it might just be a psychological effect but whatever works, right? My second choice was maybe civic, but everyone has a civic which kinda sucks... a forth possible option is the altima... but i havent really looked into it. 270 hp for 27k sounds like too good a deal.... civic comes to about 27k after taxes and freight etc.. impreza is 25~26k and lancer is about 25k i think oh yea, steering wheel mounted audio controls (lancer, impreza) are a plus too =) for those of you too lazy to read: Is civic lx, lancer gt or impreza 2.5i better?
imo, civic is out of the question. the new designs for lancer and impreza are really disappointing. tough choice =\ but if i HAD to, id go for the lancer.
hmm my friend told me that the lancer is kinda cheap and plasticy, while the impreza is ass-ugly haha. anyone else want to reply? all opinions are welcome =) remember.. im trying to brainstorm all the pros/cons which INCLUDES what people might think of tehse cars personally.
lol any reason why? or u just like the looks =P yea i kinda like the civic's looks better than both the other cars... except maybe the front end of the lancer looks kinda cool too, but thats all. the civic also looks sportier.. the other cars are too tall and narrow looking lol. and i really hate the lancer tail lights.. looks extremely odd to me
thats like 23k + 2.7k + freight and tax and stuf... anyways my problem with the lancer wasnt its lack of power or features... just that its rear leaves a lot to be desired and it has a reputation for having a cheap interior (ill see for myself tmr)
If I had to choose between the three, I'd go for a Civic Si, nothing lower. Second choice would be the Impreza hatchback. ( so that you can be the typical STi fanboy after and get the STi aero ) Lancer, only if it's the Evo RS. Can't be bothered explaining my choices tonight. But if I had to spend 27k on a car, I'd get a used one and modify it.
in order 4 door civic Si > Lancer GTS > Impreza the 4 door Si is just a great car all around, honda reliability, awesome fun, great engine and great design. I doub't you would ever be dissatisfied with that car. Also the options of modification are endless, and you have access to a bunch of HFP (honda factory performance) upgrades straight from the factory, including some sick rims and suspension. the Lancer GTS is also a great car, it has alot of kit and for the price you'd get everything you could probably ever want for a car in that price range. However, the design is getting played out, there are too many lancers around. Also, it is significantly underpowered with only 165 HP ish iirc. It does look good, but i like the subtlelity of the Si. I dont know much about the impreza, except for the fact it looks like a mazda 3 with fender flares. The only subaru's i have ever liked are the 2 last generations of STi's and im not too impressed with the current iteration of the impreza.
27k canadian =P si: i cant drive manual =(.... yes it sucks but i dont have anywehre i can learn =/ hatchback: im not an sti fanboy lol... i wouldnt mind one but i cant afford it. Anyways, the new sti is ugly as hell and im not really into hatchbacks oh... and it has to be a NEW car.. i mean of course if it were up to me id get a skyline gts-t and id be satisfied. would save like 20k too... but my parents are scared of scammers and they just watched a tv program on how "all used cars are going to fall apart right after u buy them". too bad =( btw, civics supposedly have really high resale values too.. while the lancer depreciates really quickly
sunroof not so much... sound yea =D but im not too much of an audiophile.. any half decent sound system is fine with me. it doesnt have to make my ears bleed xD i do like to be able to feel my bass a bit though without the volume being too loud overall
i know... manual is like a thousand cheaper and then theres like a $1500 rebate for cars without automatic.. T~T wahts the best way to learn? i dont have the "friend with an old manual" that i can learn from... and i dont want to waste money on lessons....
lol ask your parents if they know anyone who has a manual car that can give you one or two lessons. after that you can just learn by driving your own car. My friend bought an RSX type S and he only had driven manual 2 times before he got it.
can i learn to drive manual on battlegear 4? tehres clutch and all that, i was wondering if its similar. also is the scion tC available in canada? and how many people does it seat? price? i was wondering aobut the price of a mustang, too (i dont think ill be buying one though.. just curious)
the tC isnt available, you cant import it either, i think its on teh import no no list. you could take a look at the 2009 Corolla XRS as well
of the three u mentioned... throw the impreza out the door... its not worth a look... honestly... if u must... get the civic... otherwise... get a beater... cuz if that's the range of cars u got... ur better off buying like a used Yaris... hell... get a Fit... screw the Civic... at that price/car range... I'd just go for best gas mileage... throw performance out the window...
