Capcom to kill used games sales with one save

did anyone hear about what capcom is planning to do?

It's no secret that many publishers in the video game industry have a fairly negative of used game sales, as it directly impacts their ability to sell copies of the video game that they, themselves, will actually profit from. However, since selling used games isn't illegal, it's not particularly easy to do something about it... Unless you happen to be Capcom, that is.

Starting with the upcoming Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D for the Nintendo 3DS, Capcom seem to be planning on letting you have only one save file on your game, which is unerasable - forever. According to both the US and UK instruction manuals of the game, the save data on the game "cannot be reset". This means that if you were to, say, lend this game to a friend, he or she would not be able to start the game from the beginning, but be forced to continue from where you left off.

While this is certainly one way of dealing with used game sales, this draconian approach is sure to alienate a lot of gamers who enjoy several playthroughs of their games, if Capcom decide to continue with this approach beyond just Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D .
