After being absent from the big screens since her appearance in 2012’s Dangerous Liaisons <危險關係>, Cecilia Cheung (張栢芝) finally received the opportunity to film one of the biggest movies for 2016 – Feng Shen Bang 3D <3D封神榜>. Unfortunately, Cecilia’s diva attitude and poor work ethics angered film producer Charles Heung (向華強) and his wife Tiffany Chan (陳嵐), who ousted Cecilia from the film and will blacklist her from future projects. Cecilia often demanded her scenes to be filmed first when she arrived on the set of Feng Shen Bang 3D. One time when Louis Koo (古天樂) and Huang Xiaoming (黃曉明) were scheduled to film a scene first, Cecilia became extremely rowdy on set and demanded to know why she had to wait. Cecilia scolded the production staff heatedly, and exploded into profanities. On the last day that Cecilia was on the set, she did not emerge from the lounge room when she was asked to film. Although Cecilia appeared to get along with Huang Xiaoming, she asked the director on the side, “Why are you not filming my scenes [first]? Is it because Huang Xiaoming is more popular?” Tiffany's Disappointment Tiffany was Cecilia’s ex-manager and had regarded her as her own daughter. Although Tiffany was not on set to personally witness Cecilia’s diva attitude, the crew reported back to her. Tiffany said, “I respect the company’s decision to not use her anymore, but it hurts. I trusted the wrong person – I gave her a chance, but she didn’t treasure it.” As to reports that Cecilia’s limbs were bleeding from the numerous wirework scenes in the movie, Tiffany said that injuries are inevitable but there was medical personnel on the set to treat Cecilia. Denying that she is using the incident to gain publicity for Feng Shen Bang 3D, Tiffany said, “It’s impossible. I don’t need her for publicity. Everyone cautioned me that Cecilia is box office poison, but I thought everything would be fine with such a big cast. I was scolded by many people when I decided to cast her!” Cecilia Issues Apology and Refund Check Cecilia dismissed the reports as a “misunderstanding”, and wrote in her statement, “I deeply respect Mr. and Mrs. Heung’s decision. Since Mrs. Heung often says she sees me as a daughter, I hope they will not be so angry. I’m grateful for their kindness towards me and will never forget it in this lifetime. They will always remain as my family in my heart. Perhaps it is a misunderstanding that I can no longer partake in this film. I hope the crew continues to work hard. At the same time, I hope that there are no more needless speculations. Thanks.” Although Cecilia had initially declined to be paid for her role as Nezha, Tiffany had issued her a check for $1.9 million HKD on the side. Cecilia refunded the check since she is no longer involved in Feng Shen Bang 3D. Wen Zhang Steps in for Role Wen Zhang (文章) was the original choice for playing Nezha, but could not commit due to schedule clashes.
