Hi,
Could anyone explain me the rules of this popular drinking game among the cantonese people?

I always see many people play this game at parties.

there are like literally thousands of ways to do it.. so to explain it seems a bit difficult..

 

maybe just the one like the first movie:

Hand-gestures: Closed, five, ten, open?

 

It's kinda hard to explain in words. It's easier shown than said. As soon as you pick it up after loosing like a 50 games, you'll understand it

 

i guess the most common is 2 people vs each other.

You can have multiples of 5 from 0,5,10,15,20.
Basically each person can either have no hands open (closed), one hand open (5) or two hands open (10)
therefore the possible combinations of 2 people playing each other are 0,5,10,15,20

each person will take it on turns to shout out a number from the possible combinations, at the same time, each player will show a possible combination of hands.
If a player manages to call out a number that corresponds to the correct hand combination, they win

so say its my turn and i call out 15, as i call the number out, me and the other player will open or close our hands (depending on what we want), if it so happens that i have 2 hands open (10) and the other player has one (5), the over combination is 15 which i called and i win, the other player must drink

or you can play 2 wins in a row to make an overall win

there is skill to this game, predicting your opponent, tricking them, etc

you can play with more than 2 people, well as many as you want, because all that happens is that the possible number or combinations goes up
generally if you have more than 2, each person only uses 1 hand, therefore with a group of 6, the possible combinations are 0,5,10,15,20,25,30. And you can say whoever wins, the 2 people next to the winner have to drink

and yes...the best way to learn is to watch and play urself....

 

So basicly if it's my turn, and i call a number and the overcombination is this number, I have won and opponent has to drink.

But if it's my opponents turn, i have to try not to get the number my opponent is calling. This way your opponent hadnt won and therefore you dont have to drink, am i right?

 

i'm hopeless... at 15,20... i'm better at the "little bee" mui hahaha...

 

yep, if the number called isnt the combination shown, the game simply continues and it becomes the next persons turn to call a number

 

Play more and youll pick it up.

 

Since this is a topic of drinking games... does anyone know how to play the game with the dices and the cup?
