I got myself out of bed early today and finally found the motivation to hit the gym. After my workout, I headed over to Starbucks for a latte. When I got on to the freeway, I was pulled over by the cop. Apparently, I didn't "SIGNAL" when I changed lane. I was like WTF because I did it really quickly. The cop just didn't buy it cuz I was driving a beemer and look younger than my age. In fact, he thought my license was fake. I have a sticker on the back that have my school address on it. Pissed me off .. totally ruined my day. I am now stuck with a ticket that costs $139 for something I didn't even do. Shit .. bad things always happen to good people .. a lot these days. These cops should be out catching criminals; not nailing us law abiding citizens who is paying their salaries.
You live in the suburb?? Cops have nothing better to do in the suburb than giving tickets out on something that can be look passed..
so you didn't signal when you changed lanes and you got caught? or did you signal but still got caught? i am confused.
fight for it...tho u have no witnesses..its your word against his so if he shows up then you'll probably lose...do you lose determit points too
Changing lanes without signal doesn't bother me as long as they do it quickly. What pisses me off is people who don't signal for turns. RAGE!!!
nas is right... im confused as well... title says "changing lanes w/o signal" and your OP says you signaled quickly... if you didn't signal, then you deserved it imo. if you did signal, a case of bad luck. maybe next time youll signal a wee bit longer lol
I did, I did, and I did signal .. in fact, I have a habit of doing so much that even when there's no car behind me, I still signal. It's automatic reaction kinda thing ... know what I mean. Yeah .. a case of bad luck .. just when I am back in school and trying to be CHEAP .. sucks right now. I can already imagine the screaming and shouting when my wife hears this .. sigh...
Definitely a sign of bad luck. But it definitely doesn't hurt to let it signal for a few more seconds. But i guess it's just a habit of quick signaling?
I was in a traffic jam, and the taxi cut lanes w/o signal, got caught by an undercover cop. We all lol'ed
One of the undeniable fiscal realities of city life is that municipalities the world over depend a lot on traffic citations as a source of revenue. So in actuality, nailing "bad drivers" does pay a very large part of their salaries. But let's put that aside for a minute. Most people who are fairly experienced drivers, often do things with a vehicle more out of habit than thought. Do people actually follow the driver's manual word for word before making that lane change? More often the answer is no. To be technical about it, the signal is required well before the vehicle actually moves into the adjoining lane; if a signal is initiated at the same time that the lane change is occurring, then one can be charged with improper lane change. That is, the signal should have been activated before the lane change, not during. I personally have been guilty of this myself, doing it without giving it much thought. I've seen friends do the same. Some even go so far as to initiate the lane change and THEN look in the mirror, only to have to suddenly serve back into their original lane because another vehicle was right next to them. They simply failed to look (and signal) before the actual maneuver. Now, I'm not saying that that is what happened, but only pointing out a possibility. At any rate, it would be your word against his in court. Good luck.
hmmmmm..... this just sounds stupid.... i got a warning for not signaling in a turn only lane. go figure.
i think he was mad cause it was a turn only u-turn lane and I turned in front of him, but I was safe and he was like a good enough distance behind.... I think he was like accelerating too.. ass hat cops.
Hmmm... in your traffic manual (can vary from state to state), are there exceptions to the signaling of turns when one is turning from a mandatory turn lane? Insofar as I know, there are not. Hence, when you turn, you must signal in order to be in compliance with traffic regulations. The law may be stupid, but it is the law.
The degree of turn is inconsequential; rather the indication of the direction of the turn is what's necessary according to traffic rules. Hence, in your case, it would be to either the left or right in the start of the U-Turn. This allows other traffic to anticipate in which direction you will move.
it's a turn only lane, there is only ONE direction i will be going. Whether or not i had my signal on, i will still be going to turn... having my signal on does not mean i will immediately turn, other cars driving by can see the line from a ways back, they often choose to speed up to not allow for an opening. Hence, leaving it on or off is in that situation is of no use.
I never knew it was possible to get caught and given a ticket for not signalling when changing lanes? Man that's a sign of bad luck, most undercover cops in the UK usually catch speedings that's about it =/
