Charmaine Sheh has become "Queen of Gossip", whether it is her car, her male friends of her favorite food are all the topic of media reports. During the past 12 years, from her first TV series "Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain' to the most recent one "You are hired", Charmaine has a lot of challenges and obstacles against her. She told reporter "When I first started, I thought about giving up as I has do much criticism about my acting. I asked Felix Wong and a few seniors to teach me the acting skills and I learned how to improve myself. I couldn't understand why I still got told off for learning. Fortunately, I was too busy working, doing over 100 series in one year that I didn't have time too rest or stopped to think about if I should give up. I could only push myself forward. When I was upset on my way home, I could only cry after I had a bath and before I slept. I was so tired that the next day, I forgot all about it and continued working. I survived my first two years, and the company didn't give up on me and kept offering me chances to work. "Return Of The Cuckoo" was a my turning point, even the audience thought I had opened up. I was very happy because the role was very similar to myself. Since I got acceptance from the audience, that had boosted my confidence. After that, I asked Catherine Tsang if I could star in "Country Spirit". I loved this series, I had to row the boat everyday that I became "順風" Charmaine disclosed that she had more male friends than female friends, because of that the media always exaggerate about her private affairs "The media writes craps about me, dating certain male artists, how we spent my birthday. I admit I have more guy friends than girls friends. Guys don't tend to gossip, but girls usually do, that is why I like the company with male colleagues more. With guys, we can talk about work and anything. I feel scared of my nick name "Queen of gossip", I can only bear with it as it is beyond my control. I take that as a publicity stunt." Charmaine and Benny Chan were rumored as a couple for 5 years till she was reported to be dating Kevin Cheng. Charmaine said "A couple usually starts dating by trying to understand each other. I never hide when I go out with male friends. I know I was rumored to be dating Kevin, in fact we just go out without hiding, not to the stage that we are dating. We see each other a lot when working on "Beyond The Realm Of Conscience", but in real life, we hardly meet. We are two different people, our thinking is different, our direction in life is not the same. We argue more than we have dinner together, what will our future be if that is the case? I have to consider many issues, but at the moment, we are not dating yet. I would rather be single than getting upset when we split. We are just friends." Source: MingPao
