With the wikipedia information, it's depends on your education level. College professors usually don't want students to use wikipedia since anyone can alter the date (me included). High school, nah people don't care for @#$%!
It started from Democritus, saying all atoms are "idential" and "indivisible", which is later built on by John Dalton ---> J.J Thomson ---> Millikan's Oil Drop Experiment ---> Rutherford, for simple Chemistry. If you want more in dept analysis, using wiki is a good source.
