Thirty-one people have been injured following a stabbing in a nursery in eastern China. Five children remain in a critical condition in hospital after an unemployed local man broke into the classroom in Taixing city with a 20cm long knife. In total, 28 children, two teachers and a security guard have been injured as a result of the attack. Xu Yuyuan, 47, has been unemployed since 2001. Since being fired by a local insurance company, reports claim he has been involved in pyramid selling schemes. The stabbing is the fourth of its kind in recent weeks and has led to calls for schools to be made safer. A commentary in today's Beijing News says that "more concrete measures should be taken to make school the safest place," and calls for severe punishment for the attackers. A former doctor has been executed for carrying out a similar attack on eight school children earlier this year. But some Chinese people are using the internet to discuss the causes of the tragedies. One commentator claims that "the voices of weak people were ignored, and then they took revenge on society." http://uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20100429/twl-children-in-hospital-after-stabbing-41f21e0.html
