http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070612/lf_afp/lifestylechinasocietynameoffbeat_070612065246 craaazy. just imagine what kinda even crazier last names there'll be if the proposals pass.
I think they should just force the naming to be child's last name = father's lastname + mother's maiden name/last name Father = Li; Mother = Chen Child = Li-Chen But I guess this system will come back and haunt us in the long run... -unsure
Just think about it: If the child with his surname Zhuzhou marry his/her partner with a double surname their child will get a quad surname?!?!?! If this child with the quad surname marry a person with two, four, eigth etc. sunames... Okay maybe there will be a restriction count of surnames...
^just as 2 different characters i guess, so chinese names will end up with 4 characters unless they start to combine to form a new super language too -lol
I guess that's why they give the parents a choice... so when the kids with two surnames grow up and have children, they can decide whether their offsprings will adopt their name or take a ultra-long quadruple surname...
Hey, isn't it cool if one of the children accept all surnames of his 10+ generation ancestors? The government would appreciate this.
LOL, the surname alone would take 2 lines in Chinese characters And its English pinyin would take 4 lines
wow this is what china has to come to... combining both surnames... It would be fun i guess to see what they can come up with but this is ridiculous. The chinese name for those people are going to be 4 characters?
There are people whose last name has 2 character as is... like Au-yeung and Szeto etc... So it's no huge leap of imagination...
my sur name is 沈 and he is 罗 沈 + 罗 or 罗 + 沈 i don't think these two can sound good , so what should i do ?? get another guy with a better sur name ?? haha
Well, it will take some getting used to in the beginning, but after a while you'll get used to it either way...
Hahaha...maybe there will be a science to recommend ppl who they should marry to get a good combo of surname. As better the surname as better your luck etc.
yes, thats true... so the future generations will have long (sur)names...just like the japanese now have.... I don't know why...but japanse names translated in chinese are always very long ....
lol...well my last name is chen...if i had my mums wang then my name would still b one line on passport....but imaging CUrries that are in chinaa.....they would have like 30+ characters (english) for just their last name ....LOL
