Do you feel somehow connected with Chinese people no matter which country they are from? If you happened to see some foreign/overseas Chinese that seemed lost and in trouble, will you help?

I don't feel obligated to help them, but out of kind hearts, I would go and ask if they need help. I guess it doesn't if they're chinese or not, it's just feels nice if you helped somebody who was lost or in trouble.

a friend of mine told me about his experience to beijing. he was like ppl there are super super nice with foreigners. but b/c he couldn't a single word of chinese, ppl there didn't care or bother to care for him. he was telling me how he felt hated for being chinese, but not knowing any mandaring. it was like as if ppl there thought he was a traitor to china or something. so conclusion there is no chinese connection in beijing.

i've been told i'm much nicer to my colleagues in HK than to my colleagues in NY... dun know if that counts..

just can't help it -- its a 2way thing too cos HK colleagues always ask "are u chinese" when they first speak to me

I do believed yur friend. Many people have said that the chinese in big cities in China have become very realistic and money consious and have lost their love and compassion for others. It's liked "NO MONEY NO TALK".

I got it, but it's kinda racist if you think about it.

Yeh but thats China nowadays. I mean its fast becoming a super rich country but many people are still poor, so money becomes number 1. Where before no one had money so everyone was nice.

But I think if it came down to a situation like, they can help a foreigner or a chinese person, they would help the chinese person 1st

Sure there is a Chinese connection, I grew up in the midwest so for the most part I was the only chinese kid in class but in High School I became friends with a kid from Hong Kong and we were best friends throughout High School. So yes Chinese have to stick together.

I'm down with helping anyone in need...

I'm not the type who hates on another one of my fellow countrymen because they are not from my province or city and people tell me stereotypical bullcrap about them
